Procedure
At the beginning of the school year students
will be divided into home groups (4-5
students per group). Each home group will
have a color assigned to them. Nametags will
be constructed for each student according to
the color of their group. Before students
arrive each period the teacher will place the
student’s nametag on the desk they are
assigned to sit. Any papers to be returned to
the student will be inside their nametag. Any
papers to be collected at the end of class will
be placed inside the student’s nametag.
Teacher will use grouping strategies to place
students into groups. Various strategies
include; occupation, rock paper scissors,
famous couples, vote with your feet, Sister
Simon cards. Students will rarely, if ever,
choose their groups (possibly near the end of
the school year).
Teacher will call out, “can I please have
everyone’s attention.” After that the teacher
will wait a few seconds before she talks. This
will allow students to finish their
conversation with their partner, or finish
writing their sentence etc.
Students will put on their aprons, grab the
recipe, and wash their hands.
When students come into class they will sit at
the table/desk arrangement with their home
group.
