Trump Just Ended Obama's Vacation Scam.
He was going to stick U.S.A. for 2.1 billion or so.
Before Obama left office, he arranged with the State Department for a series of "official
visits" to foreign countries, spanning the next 20 years.
Using discretionary funds from the Office of Presidential Visits and Vacations, Obama
was able to weasel what would have been another $2.1 billion in free vacations for him
and up to 24 members of his family plus staff and a dog sitter until the year 2036.
He would have, that is, had he not lost his office to Donald Trump.
Trump, who is always looking for ways to save money, was having the office used for
vacations repainted when he was presented with a ledger that contained all of the Obama
travel plans and expenses. The ledger was found by one of the workers Trump hired from
outside the typical White House staff to make alterations.
Trump immediately canceled the plans and recalled all Secret Service agents scheduled to
protect the Obama’s anywhere outside of the United States. The Obama’s are also facing
another new challenge at the hands of Trump.
They're going to have to repay the government for all of those vacations that weren't
official state business.
The bill, after some small allowances, for days that were possibly work related, is for
$214 million!
Of the 692 days the Obama’s spent on vacation, almost none included any work at all.
They ate, slept and golfed and Michelle was given shopping allowances from the Office of
Discretionary Gifting Funds, which is supposed to be used to buy presents for visiting
dignitaries. It's just one scandal after another with these people.

Man falls asleep at the wheel, gets busted for drugs
A Panama City Beach man is in jail for possession of drugs and drug equipment after he
was found asleep at the wheel of his truck on the side of U.S. Highway 331, according to
the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy was dispatched at about 2 a.m. May 23 in reference to a disabled vehicle on U.S.
331 in Freeport. When the deputy arrived, he noticed the man asleep at the wheel with the
truck still in drive, an arrest report from the Sheriff’s Office said.
The deputy noticed a knife in the man’s lap and an open alcoholic container with orange
liquid between the man’s right leg and the center console.
When the deputy tapped on the window, the man woke up
but didn’t understand at first what was going on. The deputy
was able to open the driver’s door and remove the knife
from his lap, the report said.
The man followed orders from deputies while his vehicle
was searched. According to the report, deputies found a
rolled up plastic bag containing a white crystal substance in
the driver’s door compartment.
The substance was identified as methamphetamines.
While continuing the vehicle search, the man began arguing
with a deputy while attempting to conceal a Crown Royal
bag inside of his pants, the report said.
Inside the bag, deputies found a small scale, a glass pipe
with brown residue, a small bag filled with meth, a bag with
a small amount of marijuana and a hypodermic syringe
filled with a clear fluid.
The man was arrested for marijuana possession, drug
equipment possession and two counts of possession of a
controlled substance without a prescription.

Lawyer who forced Big Tobacco to pay billions is
now suing Big Pharma
Mississippi's Mike Moore says prescription drug companies are responsible for the
nation's opioid addiction crisis. by Rich McHugh and Likhitha Butchireddygar
The lawyer who took down Big Tobacco 20 years ago has another intimidating foe in
his sights. His opponent this time — Big Pharma.
In the 1990s, as Mississippi's attorney general, Mike Moore launched a lawsuit against
13 tobacco companies that eventually resulted in a $246 billion, 50-state settlement. His
state lawsuit had become a swarm of suits backed by dozens of states and elite private
attorneys, and then a victory that Moore proudly called the "most historic public health
achievement in history." He's now using what he learned fighting the tobacco industry
to take on pharmaceutical companies, who he says are responsible for the nation's
opioid epidemic.
"I work on this 7 days a week because I know at the end, maybe I'll be a little bit a part
of saving a lot of lives," said Moore, now 66. Moore, who wanted to be a priest when he
was younger, now spends his days trekking across the country to build a coalition of
officials — like he did when he sued tobacco companies. He's recruited 23 state
attorney generals so far. He's even called on President Donald Trump, who declared the
opioid epidemic a national health emergency in 2017, to play a role.
"Mr. President, is this really a national emergency? If it is, let's get everybody in the
same room tomorrow," Moore said. "Let's sit down and resolve this." Chip Robertson, a
former chief justice of the Missouri Supreme Court, said that many have tried to do
what Moore is doing and given up. "Mike's not afraid of anybody because Mike
believes that he's doing the right thing," said Robertson. A veteran of Moore's winning
fight against Big Tobacco, he has now joined Moore's team of top-flight attorneys and
state and local officials in the battle against Big Pharma.
Opioid addition in the U.S. has increased six-fold since 1999 and overdoses now claim
more than 115 lives every day, according to National Institute on Drug Abuse research.
About 75 percent of those who began abusing opioids in the 2000s reported that they
started on prescription drugs. Moore calls pharmaceutical companies "pretty evil" and
claims that they intentionally lied about the addictive properties of their drugs. Since
2014, he and his cohorts have filed multiple suits against manufacturers of prescription
opioids. His home state of Mississippi was the first of 10 states to sue the drug
companies. Many of the suits name Purdue Pharmaceuticals, makers of the prescription
painkiller OxyContin, as a defendant.
In 1998, Purdue released a promotional video that asserted that "the rate of addiction
among pain patients who are treated by doctors is much less than one percent." "When
you train your workforce — thousands of salespeople — to go out and tell doctors that
there's less than a one percent chance of addiction if you take this drug, and you know
that there's no study that you've done, and no reliable study that anybody else has ever
done that says that, then of course you're telling a lie," Moore said.
Purdue told NBC that Moore's assessment is "deeply flawed," claiming that its drug
oxycontin represents less than two percent of current opioid prescriptions.
According to Purdue, "illegal trafficking and abuse of heroin and illicit fentanyl" is the
real culprit in America's opioid epidemic. The corporation welcomes presenting its
"substantial defenses" to Moore's allegations in court.
After 16 years as attorney general, Moore went into private practice in 2004.
He specializes in conflicts between government and major corporations In 2017, he
notched another big win, helping oversee negotiations between BP and five states and
nearly 500 municipalities that led to a $20 billion legal settlement for damages from the
2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
When he decided to fight Big Tobacco all those years ago, Moore says, even his mother
questioned his judgment given the power and deep pockets of the opposition. But his
then unorthodox legal strategy worked, and he thinks he can use the same approach to
win again.
"I'm going to win this fight.

Disease Outbreaks Occur at Hotels

Crypto parasite continues to cause most outbreaks and illnesses linked to pools and
water playgrounds
A third of treated recreational waterborne disease outbreaks during 2000 through
2014 occurred in hotel pools or hot tubs, according to a report published today in
CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Cryptosporidium (also known as
"Crypto"), Pseudomonas, and Legionella caused most of the outbreaks in s
wimming venues in the United States during this time period. Crypto is a parasite
tough enough to survive even in properly maintained pools. Pseudomonas and
Legionella are bacteria that can survive disinfectants in slimy areas of hot tubs,
pools, and water playgrounds. The report describes mixed progress in preventing
outbreaks caused by germs spread through treated recreational water. The 493
outbreaks reported during this period resulted in at least 27,219 illnesses and eight
deaths. The number of respiratory disease outbreaks caused by Legionella
increased over time and skin infection outbreaks caused by Pseudomonas
decreased over time. Diarrheal disease outbreaks caused by Cryptosporidium
leveled off during 2008 through 2014. More than half of outbreaks started in the
summer, the peak season for swimming.
Common parasite remains the leading cause of illness from pools
Crypto causes 58 percent of outbreaks where a germ was identified linked to pools,
hot tubs, and water playgrounds and 89 percent of the illnesses. Crypto spreads in
pools when someone sick with the parasite has diarrhea in the water and other
swimmers swallow that contaminated water. Swimmers and parents of young
swimmers play an essential role in preventing Crypto outbreaks.
"Swallowing just a mouthful of water with Crypto in it can make otherwise healthy
kids and adults sick for weeks with watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and
vomiting," said Michele Hlavsa, R.N., M.P.H., chief of CDC's Healthy Swimming
Program. "Chlorine cannot kill Crypto quickly. We need to keep it out of the water
in the first place. Don't go into the water, and don't let your kids go into the water,
if sick with diarrhea."
The bacteria Legionella and Pseudomonas are the next most leading causes of these
outbreaks, with 16 percent of outbreaks caused by Legionella and 13 percent
caused by Pseudomonas. Legionella can cause severe pneumonia and symptoms
similar to the flu. Pseudomonas can cause hot tub rash and swimmer's ear.
If a pool, hot tub, or water playground is not cleaned properly, bacteria can grow
and form a slime called biofilm on wet surfaces. Legionella and Pseudomonas can
live in this biofilm. It is harder for disinfectants to kill these bacteria when they are
protected by biofilm.

people] without a violent criminal record,"
he said, apparently citing ICE data from the
past year. "They're going after Grandma."
Carlson said ICE is tasked with upholding
the law, and that all illegal immigrants by
definition broke the law in coming to
America. Vargas maintained that ICE is
"not doing their job" and that "rapists" and
"violent" criminals should be the ones
targeted. "What [Barragan] said is insane,"
Carlson said, further asking Vargas to
respond to President Donald Trump.

power outage, zombies
Residents of a Florida city who received alerts
about a power outage were also warned to look out
for zombies. That's right - zombies.
Lake Worth residents received the message during a
power outage Sunday.
The alert warned that more than 7,000 customers
lost power "due to extreme zombie activity."
City spokesman Ben Kerr later posted a Facebook
message saying officials were investigating the
bogus alert and that he wanted to "reiterate that
Lake Worth does not have any zombie activity
currently."
Kerr says 7,880 customers lost power, but it was
restored within 30 minutes. He did not mention
what really caused the outage.

Healthmark Regional Medical Center capped off
its week-long celebration of National Hospital
Week by naming its 2018 Employee of the Year.
The celebration also included prize drawings for
staff and the awarding of service pins for long-time
staff.
Chief Operations Officer Gerald Beard surprised
Martha Manton, a long-time employee within the
hospital business office, by announcing her as 2018
Employee of the Year. “Martha is dedicated,
knowledgeable, efficient, helpful and friendly to
patients and staff.
She is everything you want in an employee and we
are delighted to be able to recognize her for her
many years of service to this hospital and this
community,” he said. Ms. Manton received a plaque
honoring her service, as well as a dozen roses and a HRMS staff get advanced training

What Are Some Opioid Medications?
Codeine, morphine, methadone and oxycodone are some opioid
medications. Opioids are a class of narcotics generally prescribed as
painkillers. Opioids have the potential to be addictive and are not available
over the counter as of 2015.
Opioid drugs bind to receptors in the brain, reducing the intensity of pain
signals that the brain receives. The drugs also affect certain areas of the
brain that control emotion, which additionally reduces the strength of a
pain reaction, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
The majority of opioids are prescribed to patients experiencing severe
pain, after a traumatic injury or major surgical procedure, for example.
Codeine is an opioid that may be prescribed for more minor pain, such as
pain following dental work.
Opioid drugs are traditionally derived from a chemical found in poppies;
however scientists have also managed to synthesize opioid drugs from
bio-engineered yeast as of 2015, according to Reuters. Patients with severe
pain may be prescribed a constant dose of opioids for round-the-clock pain
relief. Additional doses may help with pain that arises despite a consistent,
lower dose. High doses of opioid drugs may cause side effects such as
slowed breathing, confusion and constipation, notes Health.
Antidepressants May Lead to Weight Gain
In the study, patients who used any of a dozen common antidepressants
were 21 percent more likely than others to put on an extra 5 to 8 pounds,
the study authors said. The study doesn't prove that the drugs caused
weight gain, according to its lead author, only that there's a link that may
help explain the rise in obesity.It's important to stress that no patients
should stop taking their medication and if they have any concerns, they
should speak to their doctor or pharmacist," a psychiatrist at King's College
London who led the study.
He noted that the increased risk of weight gain peaked at two to three years
of continuous use and lasted up to six years. Gafoor said researchers aren't
sure why the added pounds didn't show up sooner.
But they were enough to push some people from a normal weight to
overweight or obesity -- a 29 percent increased risk compared with those
not taking antidepressants. Among people already overweight,
antidepressants boosted the risk of becoming obese by 29 percent, the
researchers said. One U.S. expert said his patients have experienced
various outcomes with antidepressants.
"What I've seen is that some patients don't gain weight, some gain a lot of
weight, and some lose weight."He said patients who gain weight while
taking antidepressants need to try to eat a healthy diet and exercise more.
Alternatives are available for those who don't do well on antidepressants.
These include talk therapy and increased exercise.

authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And
then there is the matter of his troubling associations:

decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor;" a real-
life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague
and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future
historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was
such a man elected president? There is no evidence that
he ever attended or worked for any university or that he

This pretty much summarizes how

to the death of someone else recently in

Harold was Harold Greene, Major
General, United States Army. On Aug. 5,
2014, Major General Greene was killed
by a Taliban terrorist. He was returned to
America with full military honors.
It has been a tradition that the president
attends the funeral of general and flag
officers killed in the line of duty.
Richard Nixon attended the funeral of a
major general killed in Vietnam and
George W. Bush attended the funeral of
Lieutenant General Timothy Maude, who
was killed in the 9/11 attacks.
While Major General Greene was buried,
Barack Obama was golfing. The vice
president wasn't there either. Neither was
the secretary of defense. Flags were not
even lowered half-mast.
Four days after Harold Greene gave his
life for America, Michael Brown was
killed in Ferguson, Missouri.
Brown was at best a young thug. In the
minutes before his death, he committed a
robbery at a local convenience store.
According to other reports, Brown struck
Officer Darren Wilson and shattered his
orbital bone. Obama sent a three-person
delegation to Brown's funeral!
Obama would not attend the funeral of
the highest ranking military officer killed
in the line of duty since 9/11, yet he sent
a delegation to the funeral of a thug.
When Margaret Thatcher, one of
America's staunchest allies and Ronald
Reagan's partner in bringing down Soviet
communism, died, Obama sent only a
small low-level delegation to her
funeral. The snub was not missed by the
British.
When Chris Kyle, the most lethal
American sniper in history was
murdered, there was no expression of
sympathy from the White House. But
when Whitney Houston died from drug
overdose, Obama ordered all flags be
flown at half-mast. There was no White
House delegation at the funeral of an
American hero. American heroes die and
Obama goes to the golf course.

death
Dealing with death,
particularly the death of
someone you love, is one
of the most stressful experiences you can go
through. Everyone reacts differently to death,
and it’s normal if you feel like you’re riding on a
rollercoaster of different emotions. How you
react to death can be affected by many things:
The type of relationship you had with the
person: The new loss may remind you of earlier
losses you’ve had, which you may grieve for
again.
Your gender: Guys are sometimes more likely
to express their grief through physical activity.
Girls are often more likely to want to share their
feelings with others, talk about what’s
happening or cry more openly.
Your cultural background: Different cultural
groups deal with grief in different ways,
including how you express your grief through
rituals and ceremonies, and different rules
around what is considered respectful.
Your age: Younger children may not understand
that the person isn’t coming back, or why. When
you’re older, you understand that the person is
gone forever, but you may still find it difficult to
take this fact on board.
Common reactions
The most common reaction on hearing of the
death of someone close to you is shock. Shock
can affect you for a few days or a number of
weeks. When you’re experiencing it, you might
feel:
Sick
Dizzy
Nauseous
Dazed
Numb
Empty.
You can also feel some unexpected emotions as
a result of shock. It’s completely
normal to react in ways you can’t control, and
none of them are wrong. You might:
be in complete disbelief about what has
happened
feel nothing initially (a completely normal
reaction), before you eventually start to feel
various emotions react strangely – for example,
some people laugh.
Grieving
When the shock wears off a bit, you’re likely to
start grieving. Whatever your experience, don’t
stress about how you’re handling it. Everybody
grieves in their own way, including:
Physically: Headaches, feeling tired, achy
muscles and nausea.
Emotionally: Sadness, anger, disbelief,
despair, guilt and loneliness.

Lost Her Moral Compass

We had yet another mass shooting in Texas. Of course, the left and the
media, which is the fifth column of the Democratic Party, began to shout
for gun control.
However, there is a dynamic that is missing that no one is talking about.
So here it is.
America has lost her moral compass. We took the Ten Commandments
out of our schools and in most public school curriculum moral relativism
is taught. In other words, there are no absolutes.
There is no truth. Truth is what he or she deems it to be.
We have taken the Judaeo/Christian God of the Bible and outlawed him at
any school function. This includes praying at a football game.
Teachers are not allowed to discuss God in the classroom, yet these same
schools will allow a drag queen to discuss their perverted lifestyle to
6-graders or even younger.
The school system, the ACLU, the force-feeding of the bogus Darwinian
“theory” all have contributed to the moral decline in our country.
Then we have Hollywood, which pumps out film after film that glorifies
gun violence. How many people die in the Matrix movies? What’s the
body-count in a Terminator film, or the Star Wars movies?
Killing, violence, murder are the standard fare from Hollywood. Yet, these
“actors” lecture us on our first amendment rights and call for rounding up
our guns. They blame Trump and the RNC for the killings.
Give me a break. Talk about propaganda!
It’s time to push back. The Church needs to wake up and be heard.
We can make a difference.
But here’s the deal. How many of you reading this will hear any of this
from the pulpit on Sunday morning?
How many pastors will call for Christian to rise up and defy the status
quo?
America has lost her moral compass. I would even go so far as to agree
with Obama that America is no longer a Christian nation, as most pastors
seem to be hiding behind their pulpits not willing to cry out that we are on
a very slippery slope and sliding further into the abyss of moral relatavism.
Then there are the video “games” which glorify mass killings.
Here’s the answer to the massacres that continue and will continue at our
schools. It’s simple and Israel already does it. Arm the teachers.
As Rand Paul recently stated, how many shooters have attacked a police
station? How many shooters attack a sheriff’s department?
Arm the teachers. Put the Ten Commandments back up on the wall of
every classroom in America.
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. You shall not make idols.
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet.
How can anyone take issue with these moral absolutes?
America is at a crossroads. We are in the midst of a culture war. We have
only one chance to move the ship in the other direction. The pastors and
the church need to stand up and be counted.
The pastors were silent in Nazi Germany and we all know what happened.
Stand up! Make a difference. Arm your congregation. As Coach Dave
Daubenmire so passionately tells us “DO SOMETHING!!!!”
Being prepared is better than becoming just a sitting target (duck).

THE BEST GENERATION EVER
Born in the 1930s and 40s,we exist as a very special age cohort. We are the Silent Generation.
We are the smallest number of children born since the early 1900s. We are the “last one.” We are
the last generation, climbing out of the depression, who can remember the winds of war and the
impact of a world at war which rattled the structure of our daily lives for years.
We are the last to remember ration books for everything from *gas to sugar to shoes to meat
from the butcher*. We saved tin foil and poured fat into tin cans to be used to make ammunition.
We hand mixed white stuff with yellow stuff to make fake butter. We stood in line at the grocery
store when it was learned a tub of real butter had just arrived, and as kids holding a place in line
to await a mother in trail, we learned after being pushed aside by an adult stranger who was also
in line, to push ourselves back in line.
We saw cars up on blocks because tires weren't available.
We can remember milk being delivered to our house early in the morning and placed in the milk
box on the porch. We are the last to hear Roosevelt's radio assurances and to see gold stars in the
front windows of our grieving neighbors.
We can also remember the parades on August 15,1945, VJ Day. We saw the “boys” home from
the war build their Cape Cod style houses, pouring the cellar, tar papering it over and living there
until they could afford the time and money to build it out. We are the last generation who spent
childhood without television. Instead we imagined what we heard on the radio. As we all like to
brag, with no TV, we spent our childhood “playing outside until the street lights came on.”
We did play outside and we did play on our own. There was no Little League. Ball games were
"pick-up" and played on vacant lots sharing baseball mitts because only the few had them.
No kid had a two-wheeler bike until about 1946 when "Victory Bikes"
were sold (no chrome, flimsy frame, very thin wheels). There was no city playground for kids.
To play in the water, we turned the fire hydrants on and ran through the spray.
The lack of television in our early years meant, for most of us, that we had little real
understanding of what the world was like. Our Saturday afternoons, if at the movies, gave us
newsreels of the war and the Holocaust sandwiched in between westerns and cartoons.
Telephones were one to a house, often shared and hung on the wall. Computers were called
calculators and were hand cranked. Typewriters were driven by pounding fingers, throwing the
carriage, and changing the ribbon. The Internet and Google were words that didn't exist.
Newspapers and magazines were written for adults. We are the last group who had to find out for
ourselves.
As we grew up, the country was exploding with growth. The G.I. Bill gave returning veterans the
means to get an education and spurred colleges to grow. VA loans fanned a housing boom.
Pent-up demand coupled with new installment payment plans put factories to work.
New highways would bring jobs and mobility. The veterans joined civic clubs and became active
in politics. In the late 40s and early 50s the country seemed to lie in the embrace of brisk but
quiet order as it gave birth to its new middle class (which became known as Baby Boomers).
The radio network expanded from 3 stations (NBC, ABC, CBS) to thousands of stations. The
telephone started to become a common method of communications and "Faxes" sent hard copy
around the world. A neighborhood television set was a rare phenomenon (circular B&W 10"
screen). Most families could not afford such a luxury, so as kids, we'd head to the closest TV
appliance store, which always had a TV in the sidewalk display window, where we would watch
Milton Berle and his Texaco Comedy Hour and, sometimes, even a major league ball game from
New York City.
Our parents were suddenly free from the confines of the depression and the war and they threw
themselves into exploring opportunities they had never imagined. We weren't neglected but we
weren't today's all-consuming family focus. They were glad we played by ourselves “until the
street lights came on.’” They were busy discovering the post war world.
Most of us had no life plan, but with the unexpected virtue of ignorance and an economic rising
tide we simply stepped into the world and started to find out what the world was about. We
entered a world of overflowing plenty and opportunity, a world where we were welcomed. Based
on our naïve belief that there was more where this came from, we shaped life as we went. We
enjoyed a luxury. We felt secure in our future. Of course, just as today, not all Americans shared
in this experience. Depression poverty was deep rooted. Polio was still a crippler. The Korean
War was a dark presage in the early 50s, and by mid-decade, school children were ducking under
desks. Russia built the Iron Curtain and China became Red China. Eisenhower sent the first
“advisors” to Vietnam, and years later, Johnson invented a war there. Castro set up camp in Cuba
and Khrushchev came to power.
Only our generation can remember both a time of apocalyptic war and a time when our world
was secure and full of bright promise and plenty. We have lived through both. We grew up at the
best possible time, a time when the world was getting better, not worse.
We are the Silent Generation, “the last ones.” The last of us was born in 1945, more than 99.9%
of us are either retired or dead, and all of us believe we grew up in the best of times!

Retired Police Detective Identifies Mysterious Patterns

Across Thousands of Missing Persons Cases
David Paulides, who has more than 20 years’ experience in law enforcement, has
analyzed missing persons cases across North America and has found some startling
similarities.
Local authorities usually view these cases from a local perspective, but Paulides has
stepped back to see how all the pieces fit into a bigger puzzle. And he has found that
puzzle puzzling indeed. “It’s like something out of the X-files,” Paulides said during a
talk at the University of Toronto on May 21. He has collected some 2,000 cases that
have similar, mysterious, characteristics.
They are clustered in certain areas, particularly around bodies of water and in national
parks. If the people are found alive, they often have memory loss. If they are found
dead, the cause of death is hard to determine. The people are sometimes found in an
area it seems they could not have reached by foot, or they are found in a location that
has already been thoroughly searched. Paulides gave the example of a little boy whose
body was found lying on a fallen tree trunk. This tree was lying across the trail
searchers had taken for days before the body appeared there.
People are often missing clothes and shoes. Search and rescue dogs are strangely un-
able to pick up the scent, Paulides said. Some canine handlers have told Paulides their
search dogs act strangely, walking a little ways, circling, then sitting down.
Investigators don’t find any tracks and the incidents often happen in areas not known
for dangerous wildlife, nor do the bodies appear mauled.
The people who go missing are often at two ends of the spectrum when it comes to
mental capacity. They are either disabled or brilliant, Paulides said. “I’m talking about
super brilliant,” he added. The companions of the people who go missing often say,
“Somehow, we just got separated.” Paulides discussed dozens of the cases he has
investigated. He has obtained official reports through freedom of information act
(FOIA) requests, some of which were heavily redacted. He has talked to the local
investigators on the cases, interviewed witnesses, and consulted with medical
examiners. But, he noted, “I’m just talking about 2 percent of 2,000 cases I’ve
documented.” His investigations began in 2009, when he was already retired from the
San Jose police force. Two park rangers who had both worked at several parks told him they believed many strange missing persons cases in the parks warranted further
investigation. Since then, Paulides has expanded his search to urban areas where he has found cases with similar characteristics. And they aren’t all modern either; he’s
looked as far back as the 19th century and found similar disappearances.
Found in Unexpected Locations
Paulides gave some examples of people who were in one place one moment, then another place—far removed—shortly thereafter. In the cases of two toddlers, this puzzling
characteristic is especially prevalent, since the toddlers were clearly not mobile enough to have covered the vast distances themselves.
On July 13, 1957, 2-year-old David Allen Scott went missing in the Twin Lakes area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. His father saw him, went into his camper momentarily,
and when he came out the boy was gone.
The area didn’t have much coverage, visibility was good, but searchers couldn’t find the boy until three days later—after going up one side of a nearby mountain, down the
other side of it, and up the side of another mountain.
“He [could] barely walk across a parking lot,” Paulides said. Clearly Scott did not make the journey himself.
Another 2-year-old, Keith Parkins, went missing near his home in Ritter, Ore., on April 10, 1952. He ran around the barn and wasn’t seen again until he was found alive 19
hours later some 15 miles away, face-down on an iced-over pond.
Water Connection
The missing persons are often found in bodies of water, but these are far from clear-cut cases of drowning, Paulides said. Many of the cases Paulides has examined took
place around the Great Lakes, but also around bodies of water in urban and other areas.
Jelani Brinson, a 24-year-old college soccer star was found in a golf-course pond in Anoka, Minn. He went missing from a friends’ home on April 17, 2009, at 10:30 p.m.
Investigators found his hat in one backyard nearby, his shoes in another.
It had been raining for days and the golf course was muddy, yet Brinson’s socks were clean. It seems he did not walk there, but was placed in the pond by someone.
“He didn’t drown,” Paulides said. The cause of death remains undetermined. Furthermore, his is one death among many in a cluster Paulides identified in the area.
Paulides has written multiple books on his investigations, including, “Missing 411: A Sobering Coincidence,” which deals with young men who disappear in urban settings
near water. Most cases are in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Typically, the young men are in a bar drinking with friends and no one sees them leave. Days later they are found dead in the water. Though it is easy to assume upon first
glance that intoxication caused the men to fall into the water and drown, Paulides said it’s not that simple.
For example, it often happens that a young man missing for several days is found, but the coroner can see that the body was only in the water for a few days. This is true also
of cases in the parks and wilderness areas.
Similar cases have appeared in other places around the world, although Paulides has not investigated all of these in depth.
Recently, “Manchester canal deaths” have gotten some attention. UK newspapers have speculated that the dozens of bodies, mostly men, found in a canal in Manchester over
the past several years may be the work of a serial killer, dubbed “The Pusher.”
But Paulides said the canal is shallow, and it’s strange that these men would drown in it. He wonders if there’s more to the story.
Explanations
While many people have attached their own explanations to Paulides’s work—speculating it was Bigfoot or aliens, among other theories—Paulides reserves judgment on this
issue.
“Folks, I have never given you a theory. I have given you a series of facts,” he said. “What happens if I come out and I tell you, ‘It’s that.’ And then the next day somebody
comes out and proves it can’t be that. My credibility is shot.”
But he does hint that something out of the ordinary may be behind these events.
He wrote to Epoch Times in a follow-up email after his talk: “It would be easy to come to a rational explanation on many cases. With a background of hundreds of exactly
the same cases, the perspective changes.”

Vintage pair of Levis, 125 years old, go
for close to $100,000
The vintage look just got a whole lot more
expensive.
A buyer in Southeast Asia has purchased a pair of
125-year-old Levis for almost $100,000.
And you thought your jeans cost a pretty penny.
The jeans, originally bought in 1893 by Solomon
Warner, a storekeeper in the Arizona Territory,
have a drastically different look than today’s
Levis. Warner’s jeans had but a single pocket, a
button fly and no belt loops -- remember, men
favored a good set of suspenders back in the day.
The denims, size 44 with a 36-inch inseam,
suggest that Warner was no small man.
Warner, it turns out, had a colorful history that
had nothing to do with his jeans. He established
one of the first stores selling American dry goods
in Tucson, and survived being shot by Apaches in
1870.
The jeans were in good condition when they were
purchased earlier this month because Warner had
only worn them a few times before becoming ill.
