First-aid action plan and CPR

DR ABC:

Danger: Observe the area and check for possible risks: Is it safe to you/casualty/others?

Eliminate the risks first and ONLY move the casualty if the scene is life-threatening (e.g. fire)

Response: Check if the casualty can hear/speak/move/respond to being touch

Ask someone politely to call 999 if the casualty is unconscious (exert peer pressure)

In 10 seconds, check for:

Airway: Check if the airway(throat) is blocked

Clear airway by tilting the head backwards gently and open the mouth to clear any foreign object

Breathing: Observe the chest expansion/ Listen for breathing

Circulation: Look for a pulse (neck)

If the casualty is unconscious and there is no sign of breathing and pulse, seek for medical help
immediately and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation:

30 chest compressions in 15-18 seconds followed by 2 mouth-to-mouth resurrections and repeat

until medical professionals arrive

Chest compression: one hand on top of the another and position them between the nipples,
straighten the arm and push down 2 inches at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute

Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation: place one hand on top of the

forehead and pinch the nose; the other hand forms a pistol
position tilt the head backwards gently; perform two rescue
breaths in each cycle and look for chest expansion
