DR ABC:
Danger: Observe the area and check for possible risks: Is it safe to you/casualty/others?
Eliminate the risks first and ONLY move the casualty if the scene is life-threatening (e.g. fire)
Ask someone politely to call 999 if the casualty is unconscious (exert peer pressure)
Clear airway by tilting the head backwards gently and open the mouth to clear any foreign object
If the casualty is unconscious and there is no sign of breathing and pulse, seek for medical help
immediately and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation:
Chest compression: one hand on top of the another and position them between the nipples,
straighten the arm and push down 2 inches at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute
First aid skills could mean the difference between life and death!
Please consider taking a qualified first-aid course if you have not
taken one. It is fun, and more importantly life-changing!
