1. Purpose of this Manual
The purpose of this Manual is to provide information regarding repair procedures of French Door Bottom
Mount (FDBM) Refrigerators with the Electronic Control System. This Manual is intended for the use of Service
Technician.

Steps to disassemble the Perfect Temperature
Drawer Cover:

1. Locate the PTD Cover. Fig. 12: PTD Cover


Steps to assemble the Perfect Temperature Drawer
Cover:

1. Lift the PTD Cover and place its one side to the
support provided on either side.

2. Before removing the PTD Cover, remove all the
stored items.

3. Firstly, remove the Crisper Drawer and PTD to 2. Tilt it and slide in through the support to the end
remove the PTD Cover. of the cabinet (See Fig. 13).
4. Lift the PTD Cover and locate the 8-pin connector 3. Plug in the 8-pin connector in the PTD Cover to
on the right side of the cover and unplug it. the PTD Main Board (See Fig. 9).

4. Assemble the Crisper Drawer and PTD.

6.2 Main Control Board


Steps to disassemble the Main Control Board (MCB):

the MCB on the front bottom left corner of the unit
5. Hold and lift the cover as shown and slide it away
from the cabinet to some distance, then tilt it at an
angle to avoid contact with the cabinet and remove
it.

2. Release the snap on the front of the MCB housing 2. Slide in the housing under the cabinet until it locks
using a Flat Head Screwdriver. into the snap.

3. Slide the MCB housing towards the Door. 3. Install the Toe Grille.

6.3 Dispenser Control Assembly


Steps to disassemble the Dispenser Control
Assembly:

1. The Dispenser Control Assembly is located in the


Ice and Water Dispenser module. Hence, locate the
Dispenser module on the front of the unit.

4. Release the snaps of 3 strain relief clips and
unplug the 8 connectors to separate the MCB from
the unit

2. Pull out the module cover using Flat Plastic tool.

Steps to assemble the Main Control Board (MCB):

1. Plug in the 8 connectors to the MCB and snap in


the 3 strain relief clips (ensure that the bundle order is
same See Fig. 18 and 19).

1. Remove the Dispenser Control Assembly to

2. Remove the 2 screws which hold the Ice and


Water Dispenser module with the Door.

4. Unplug the 3 connectors and separate the
Dispenser Control Assembly from the unit.

3. Release the Water Dispenser tube from the snaps.
Steps to assemble the Dispenser Control Assembly:

1. Plug in the 3 connectors into the Dispenser


Control Board.

location and tighten the 2 screws to fix it to the unit

4. Gently pull the tube upwards with little force.
3. Press and fix the module cover back into the unit.

Test 58C: Ice Level Sensor Test / Bail Arm Switch Test

NOTE
The ice bucket must be removed from the Ice Maker chamber prior to entering this test.

• For this test, no need to press ‘Power ON / OFF’ as it activates automatically.

• The Ice Maker motor will run turning the tray and lowering then resetting the Bail Arm continually until you
exit the test.

• If the Bail Arm is allowed to fall freely, the tray will return to the home position and no alarm will sound.

• Hold the Bail Arm up as the tray rotates (thus simulating the presence of a full ice bucket), then the alarm will
sound as the tray returns to home position.

• Unless both the conditions are met, the test is considered as failed.

Test 63C: Twist Tray Test

NOTE
The ice bucket must be removed from the Ice Maker chamber prior to entering this test.

• Press ‘Power ON / OFF’ to start the test.

• The Ice Maker motor will run and turns the tray. The Freezer display shows “1” and the “GOOD” light will ON
if the test is passed.

• The test will run continuously until you press ‘Power ON / OFF’ or change to another test.

10. Troubleshooting of Perfect Temperature Drawer (PTD)
(Flowcharts)
Service Mode for PTD

1. This mode is accessible only when the drawer is in OFF mode. To enter PTD Service mode, press and hold
temperature increase key (+) and temperature decrease key (-) for 5 seconds.

2. Press ‘UP / DOWN’ button to navigate through the test options and press ‘ON / OFF’ to initiate the tests.

3. Perform the following tests:

• Fan Test

• Heater Test

• Damper Test

• Report NTC Temperature Test

• Display Test

Fan Test
• Press Power ON/OFF to activate the test.

• When test is started, Display will show ‘F1’ when Fan is ON and ‘F0’ when Fan is OFF.

Heater Test
• Press Power ON/OFF to activate the test.

• When test is started, Display will show ‘H1’ when Heater is ON and ‘H0’ when Heater is OFF.

Damper Test
• Press Power ON/OFF to activate the test.

• When test is started, Display will show ‘d1’ when Damper is opened and ‘d0’ when Damper is closed.

• Damper movement may take 30 seconds.

Procedure to test Damper:


• Remove drawer.

• Start Damper test.

• Observe Damper movement (Open and close movement).

• Exit Damper test.

Report NTC Temperature Test


• Display shows ‘b1’ for this test.

• Press Power ON/OFF to activate the test.

• Display will show ‘_°F’ until the main control board responds with associated sensor temperature
reading.

• Press Power ON/OFF to activate the test.

• Display will cycle through all the display segments with a minimal ON time for each segment.

4. Press and hold the temperature increase key (+) for 5 seconds, or no key pressed in 5 minutes
returns to the OFF mode of operation.
