Personal Experience with Board: As a Primary Teacher at an East

End school, I became aware of the inequities between school. In June
I made a presentation to the Board at the Budget meeting. I had
several questions, which have never been answered.

Issue on my radar. The Board intends to build a new high school at

the cost of at least $27M, in a location that is not its first choice, when
there is a current decline in enrollment that would see the need
disappear in five years. The area that they are going to build in is
currently served by five high schools, two Catholic and three public.

Hope for change: It is my hope that the Board and the educational
system, would become more transparent and certainly more
accountable to the public. The Catholic Board should be updating the
East Affiliate schools to bring them in line with some of the new
schools that have been built.

Why I want to be a Trustee: I believe the East End schools need a

strong advocate to ensure that they are no longer treated like the poor
cousins. I know that the system could be more reflective of Gospel
Values and I would like to ensure that our schools are providing the
best possible educational opportunities to all our students.
