NSW Health Vaccination Program

The NSW health Vaccination Program is an organization which is developed by the
government that helps public and community health services. The main purpose if the
program is to immunise children and adults by getting the vaccines, which will prevent
themselves from any viruses and diseases which are more easily to be caught at their age.
Also helps parents to make a more wiser judgement or opinion as it provides information
for them to access.

This program help individuals develop personal skills as it assists them with informations
and tips on the ‘Why Vaccinate?” fact sheet which is provided on the website. The sheet
addresses to the audience the significances of vaccinations and how important it is to
immunise your child. Also informs the audiences of the consequences of your child not
being immunised and this may also help parents to make an informed choice to immunise
their child. This also addresses certain diseases which can be prevented by immunising your
child. Furthermore, this factsheet provides important information about why kids should be
immunised and how it prevents diseases which are harmful to their body. This information
will also enhance parents knowledge of the reasons for why their child should be
vaccinated.

The campaign creating supportive environments as it is evident in the program as it provides
individuals with education and give tips and information which will helps an individual to be
in control of their health and well being. This program also provides persuading information
for why your child should be vaccinated and provides stories of the negative impact that are
cause by not giving your child immunised. This information will also help a parent to more a
wise judgement or decision towards immunising their child. Free vaccinations for children
ages 6 months to 5 years, this will prevent children from getting deadly viruses and the
children would be more safe. Provides hotlines to call for further information regarding the
immunising of an individual.

This program also strengthens communities as it if peers within a certain community

informs the rest of the the community of how the vaccination for immunising your child can
prevent your child from catching many type of viruses which are around. This will encourage
parent to get their child immunised and if they dont get their child immunised negative
impacts will affect their child’s health and well being. Addressing this in a community will
make the whole community a health community as everyone will be aware of the diseases
that could be caught without giving their necessary vaccines.

In the program is seeks for reorienting health services as in the campaign it explains the
negative effects of not getting immunised and how that may impact an individual. This
website also provides guidelines for health professionals and their role in supporting the
importance of immunisation. This means health professionals are helping to prevent illness
and disease and promoting health through preventative measures. This gives parents a
more reliable decision which they will be more confident to agree to immunise their
children.

Building healthy public policy is evident as their are many policies such as having nurses
come into schools to vaccinate the kids and keep them up to date with their vaccines. This
will benefit children as parents don’t have to book appointments in order to get their
children immunised. The ‘Managing school vaccine reactions’ on the website provides us
with ways to treat children if they are experiencing side effects from school vaccinations and
if their is a concern of another side effect which is not provided it provides parents with
contact to local doctors or the Public health Unit for further information.

The campaign promotes healthy choices and behaviours for individuals as it persuades and
encourages communities and individuals to get children immunised to prevent harmful
diseases and to decrease the rate of morbidity and increase life expectancy of individuals.
The program encourages people to get immunised and help peoples make a confident
choice of immunising their children and to assure them how this will prevent their child
from any common diseases.

Define the principles of social justice and analyse how the principles have been applied to
the above program to promote the health of individuals.

Principles of social justices refers to the aim to eliminating inequity, Promoting diversity and
creating supportive environments for all people. Social Justice principles includes equity,
diversity and supportive environments. Equity means that resources are assigned to
individuals and populations with the desired goal of equality of outcomes, according with
the needs required. Equity is present in the website as the vaccination is available for
everyone even if they don’t attend schools. So the services are offered to everyone to ensure
they all receive the same healthcare. This program also promotes health by the recognition
of the high morbidity rates in the indigenous population, developing specific vaccines which
are recommended for Indigenous People. Diversity refers to the differences that exist
between individuals and people groups. This is as the campaign is accessible for the widest
possible audience. Such as providing alternate formats for people who may have a disability.
Supportive environments are environments where people live, work and that increase their
ability to make health-promoting choices. This is evident in the program as it provides
individuals with education and give tips and information which will helps an individual to be
in control of their health and well being. This program also provides persuading information
for why your child should be vaccinated and gives as examples (stories) of the negative
impact that are cause by not giving your child immunised. This information will also help a
parent to more a wise judgement or decision towards immunising their child. In conclusion
the social justice principles are addressed in this website as it addresses the health
outcomes such as decreasing death rates and diseases which are caused by not being
immunised and factors which may impact your health and well being such as your
environment or socioeconomic status.

Propose one more original strategy that could be implemented to address mental health
issues of young people. Give a detailed description of how your strategy would improve the
health of an individual.
- Mindful Mondays (Meditation)
- Thoughtful Tuesdays (Reflecting week)
- Worry free Wednesday (Relax/ Personal time)
- Throwback Thursdays (music)
- Fruity Fridays (50c)

An original strategy that could be implemented to address mental health issues of young
people is to start a program at school where each day of the week, where the students are
provided with an opportunity to improve their mental health. To start of the week,
Mondays are known to be Mindful Mondays, this is where the students gather together
with a supervisor and take a moment out to relax and practice some stress relieving
meditation such as finger yoga. Tuesdays are known as Thoughtful Tuesdays, this is where
you reflect over your weeks and students are able to realise what they did well and where
they can improve. On Wednesday, it is Worry free Wednesday’s where each students gets
to relax and have personal time to do whatever they intend to do as a break in the week.
Throwback Thursdays is when the students play and enjoy music as it relaxes the mind and
relieve them from any stress. Fruity Fridays is when the canteen sells discounted fruits for
50 cents or fruit salads. These help adolescents healthy both mentally and physically as
fruits as it energises you for the day and also good in long term as it keeps blood pressure in
check. In conclusion, this strategy to raise awareness regarding mental health for young
adults insures that they do not enjore unhealthy stress and are conscious of their own
mental state of well being.
