The Effects & Causes of Stress in Our Daily
Life

ABSTRACT:
The main objective of this project is to find out the ways in which data could be used to find out
how stress really affects the lives of different kind of people living in our society. Stress is the
natural part of our life which has different kind of stress on our life. Stress can have mental as
well as physical effect in different ages of people .This survey is conducted to find the public
opinion about stress. 27 questions were used for data collection. 50 people were chosen from
different places across the whole Pakistan . This study concluded that majority of people felt
fatigue during stress. Burden of study, work were major causes of stress and they agreed that
they reduce stress by watching T.V/Movies, listen to music or take part in other leisure time
activities. It was recommended that burden of study may be reduced by conducting co curricular
activities in academic area.

INTRODUCTION:
In our current era a lot of people are suffering from different psychological disease and
stress is most common among them. People from every age, gender and profession are suffering
from it. For some people the causes of stress can be bad relations, job issues, heavy workload,
studies and many more. Stress is one of the subject people want to keep it to themselves and they
hardly share it with others. So, we have planned to take out statistical data about how stress is
affecting our day to day life and what are the common reasons for it. In-order to deal with stress,
we must know its causes among different individuals. We have targeted general-public in this
survey but our main- focus will be students as different studies have shown that stress problems
in students have resulted in bad academic carrier. The complexity of survey is kept simple so
people can easily discuss their opinion regarding this matter. Results from this research are
intended to be used for educational purpose only.

METHODOLOGY:
Stress is a problem suffered in all age groups and in each gender. It does not differentiate
on-the basis of different classes in our society. It equally affects rich, poor, student, professor
employee, unemployed, young and old person. So, we kept the survey for all age group and
gender. However, most of the participants in our survey turned out to be college and university
students. The criteria for selection of participants was random, and the questionnaire was
distributed to different people. The method for collecting data was done by making questionnaire
on google forms. The link to this form was then distributed to different participants using email,
personal messages and whatsapp messages. The sample size was kept in a normal range for
accurate calculation in less time. We collected around 50+ surveys before concluding the results

We used four methods for collecting data which are termed as nominal, ordinal, ratio and
interval. Nominal method was used to collect information about the participant regarding their
name, profession and education status. Many questions required to get answers in various
intervals according to opinion of participant. Interval method was used in addressing these
questions. The most frequent method we used was of ordinal data collection. Questions were
made to be answered in yes/no or degree of agreement. Questions were asked regarding stress
causes and role of environment in developing stress among individuals. After these questions
were asked regarding affects of stress in personal life of participants and in their productivity.
Moreover, people were asked regarding how stress is related with their social life. Finally, how
do people deal with stress and what methods they use to get relief from it were asked to
understand what is the most common way people are using to relax themselves.

RESULTS:
Survey result showed that most of the participants who filled the survey belonged to age
group between 20-29. Around 92% of the participants were students and male gender make
around 74% of the total participants. Most of the participants were singled which comprise 80%
of the people while rest were married or engaged. Here are some of the key findings and results
related to our survey conducted.

1. Most of the people enjoy what they do. Results showed that people are satisfied with
what they do unless they are not doing it with their will.
2. Participants showed almost equal amount of like and dislike regarding satisfaction
towards their jobs or educational studies.

3. Survey concluded that mostly students suffers a lot of stress due to their studies.
4. Environment has a key factor in productivity of students. Statistically many participants
believed that they could work better if conditions were different.

5. Stress is affecting a lot in personal and family life. Around 70% of participants felt that
stress is causing problems in their lives.
6. Many of us believed that social life is affected a lot due to stress however in this survey
half of the participants believed that stress has no affect on their social life.
7. One of the common reason found for stress was that people often face pressure to meet
deadlines in their jobs and studies.

8. Survey has showed that stress helps individuals to do better and perform well for their
studies and works. However, many also disagree with this and thinks stress to be the
cause of less productivity in their work.
9. Many individuals do not think stress as a big problem and they think they can handle it
without any consent from outside.

10. Relationships and specially spending time with your loved ones has proven to be great
remedy for people suffering from stress.
11. People try different methods to deal with stress or emotional problems. Survey has
revealed that student mostly reduces stress by listening to music or by sleeping. Some
students also like to play video games to reduces stress.

12. Studies have shown that people suffer most from stress because of studies or heavy work
load. Family problems has also proven to be one of the major reason for developing stress
among people.
