Edit Log

Image 1
Above shows the before and after results of the first image I decided to edit through Adobe
Lightroom. The only changes that were made to this image was increasing the vibrance. I only
slightly increased the vibrance as doing this too much would result in making the image look
false. I increased the vibrance to emphasize the yellow colour of the flowers and the models
eyeshadow so they looked more similar in colour. In addition to this I also increased both the
black and white tones of the image. This was done to lighten certain aspects of the image so it
appears brighter as a whole (including the model who is the main focus of the image).

For the second image that I edited, like the first image, this was just a case of making
the image brighter to give the features of the models face more clarity (as the darkness
of the image before creates shadows amongst her facial features). The only things that I
changed were the levels of the white and black tones in the image. The white tones
were decreased in the image and the black tones were increased which therefore
changed the brightness of the image as a whole including the brightness of the flowers
in the background and the models face and hair. By decreasing the white tones in the
image the blue tones in the sky are able to appear more as well so they are not
overshadowed by the clouds/brightness of the sun.

When editing this image I used a colour fade at the top of the sky to make the very top
of the clouds appear more blue to make the image look less gloomy (due to the grey
toned clouds in the background). Like the other images, the other levels which I
changed related to the brightness of the model. I increased the black and white tones of
the image similarly to the other images edited previously to make the appearance of the
models face and hair lighter. I decreased the highlights and increased the shadows
which also enabled me to change the level of brightness the image had as well.

The main focus when editing this image was also to improve the brightness. I started by
decreasing the highlights of the image to make sure that brightness of the sky did not
look too harsh and the colouring of the clouds were not too dark. Again, both of the
white and black tones were increased as well as the shadows which resulted in the
image becoming brighter. The colour of the flowers has therefore become more vibrant
by increasing the white tones as well as making the the skin tone of the model lighter
making it look smoother, making the hair colour less dark and decreasing the shadows
in her face.

When editing this image, like all of the other images above, the main target was the
brighten the whole of the image especially the models face. From changing the black
and white tones and increasing both the shadows and highlights the models face and
hair has become much brighter and appears smoother in the daylight. As well as this
the colour of the sky changing and now appearing lighter and having is less grey tones
in the clouds.

For this image I only wanted to slightly enhance the different aspects of the photograph.
The different things that were changed in this image are the levels of the highlights and
shadows, by decreasing the highlights of the image and increasing the shadows the
skin tone of the model has become less cool toned and there is a slight change in the
definition of certain lines in the image and the features of the model (and her makeup).
One other thing I did to edit this image was slightly increasing the vibrancy. By
increasing the level of vibrancy this image the yellow colour that is featured in the
background has become brighter.

Image 7
The tones in this image before editing it were mostly quite dark, as you can tell by the
after side of this image after it had been edited I tried to lighten the different colour tones
in the image. I edited this image by changing 3 different aspects, I started by changing
the level of white tones in the image to change how the light in the image changed the
models skin tone. By decreasing the white tones in the image the models face appears
smoother as the white tones were creating a harsher tone. I also increased the black

tones which gives some of the lines in the background some more definition as well as
increasing the level of vibrancy to make the pink tones brighter.

When editing this image, the natural lighting has made the models face and skin tone
look extremely white and bright, I decreased this by decreasing the highlights of the
image as well as the white tones to make the image look a bit more natural in regard to
the colouring, by doing this the colours of the flowers in the background are also more
true as well. The models skin tone also looks more true and the change in the harsh
white tones compliments her skin tone and the makeup she has on, her skin looks more

smooth. The black tone were increased in this image to ensure that certain lines were
still defined as well as the vibrance being increased to emphasize the pink colour
throughout the image.

Image 9
This image was taken as the daylight was disappearing outside so the flash along with
the darker natural lighting created some shadows are darker tones which I thought did
not flatter the image. To combat these darker tones that were unflattering to the image, I
decreased the shadows of the image and increased the highlights of the image to make
the models face look brighter and take away some of the shadows that had occured.
The white and black tones were increased in this image as well to balance out the
colours due to the darker lighting which we shot this image in, the background of clouds
appears lighter as a result of this as well. The vibrancy was the last aspect of this image
which I edited to make sure that the blue tones popped and stood out in the image as
the image was naturally quite dark.
