EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This business opportunity report is created on an actual business industry which we


have to propose a vision and mission of a business in general. We have proposed
the service truck industry as our business opportunity report which includes the Le
Beauty Service Truck, Fruity Energy Boost Truck and Mamaritos Mexican Truck. We
have identify and come up with many ideas of each of the businesses with their own
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats by using the SWOT analysis. After
we identify the business opportunity, we conclude that the Le Beauty Service Truck
is the best business idea in this service truck industry compared to the other two
businesses. Thus, business opportunity is one of the steps before proposing a
business plan.

1.0 CONCEPT & VISION

Service trucks industry are rising up and booming all over in Malaysia but in
Sarawak, it is still a new industry. In any other country, these truck industry serving
multiple classes of service like hair cutting, food and beverages, selling toys and etc.

2.0 IDENTIFICATION OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

2.1 Le Beauty Service Truck

In the era that we are living today, different interests and different demands has been
arising. Now, a lot of people are providing a lot of services to satisfy or to grant the people
wants and needs. Same goes to the reason why we want to start our idea, in order to
provide the wants of the people.

Here, we saw the chance on starting the Le Beauty Service Truck. The demand in
beauty segment or market has been arising in our life today. The wants for not only the
female, but also male to beauty up has been increasing over the past years. Now, people
are giving extra care to how they appear. Everyone wants to be pretty and beautiful in order
for them to be able to hide their imperfections. For instance, blemishes, acne scars and
more. Thus, make up acts as the instant beauty for people without going through a drastic
plastic surgery.

By analysing the high demand in the make-up segment, we have come up with the
idea on opening a beauty service truck that will teach our customer on makeup, and hairdo.
However, after making some researches, a lot of people may be giving the makeup services,
but the studios are usually far away from the people’s home. Thus, it will make their
expenses on learning makeup more expensive than they wanted it to be as the cost of fuel
has been arising nowadays.

Therefore, we saw the opportunity and we came up with the idea on providing the
service through mobile. That way, the studio on mobile can be transfer from one place to
another. Not only that, it will mean that the service truck will be going around tour from
different district to another district. Instead of the customers going around the place
searching for the studios in a secluded place or traveling from a far place to be able to reach
the studios, they only had to go down to their town district and spot our truck.

In addition, none of the beauty gurus has come up or provide beauty service in a
mobile truck before. Therefore, it is a great opportunity for our company to provide the
service as people will be interested in the newly provide service.

2.2 FRUITY e-BOOST TRUCK

The reason we have this idea is because we want to start the operation to fulfil the
need of the market segment that is still not enough. The market section which is known F&B
service truck focusing on the energy drink. People these days have too much hectic life
which includes tight work routine absorbs all the energy from their body and soul. In this
situation, they need a touch that will refill their energy need and make them fresh
immediately.

There are some products already exist in the market to take advantage of our chosen
market section but the fact is that the competition is low or even none in energy drink section
especially in Sarawak. The fundamentals of our business will be to fulfil the necessity of the
people to stay energetic with our world-class energy drink at reasonable price. We take our
customer as our first priority while taking any decision.

Our target market of our mix fruit energy drinks are mainly targeted towards those
who need some sort of energy boost. Now, everybody is facing the super-charged, over-
worked way of life, but young people are mainly weak. They suffer from exhaustion and
insufficient energy. We will specially make our marketing efforts around adults, teenagers,
and also veterans. We also take orders online and delivery to places like school, office,
home, factory and etc.

Service truck industry has a very bright future as everyone expecting from the trends
prevailing in the market. Also, energy drinks demand is rising as compared to the other
drinks available in the market. The people are coming more and more towards the energy
drinks not only to get their selves fresh but also regain the energy of the body which they
loss during the everyday chores of work. They also have it before they start to exercise. As
the share of industry is rising as the time passes on so to launch a business in such an
environment where on one side the industry share of total market is increasing and on other
side not much competitors are available in Sarawak (town area) this this energy boost truck
segment looks like a very wise decision.

2.3 MAMARITOS MEXICAN TRUCK

There may be many reasons why we chose this business and one of them is we
would like to establish our own homemade Mexican food which you will rarely found
in a restaurant. The market section which is known food and beverages truck are
focusing on the uniqueness of the homemade food. People in our era always want to
try new things especially when it comes to food. So we have come up with this idea
to attract them also with our very own modified recipe.

There may be plenty of other service trucks which will provide their own food
service but the fact that the competition of this Mexican food is very low or even
none of the restaurant serve various types of these food. The main aim of our
business is to fulfil the customers’ appetite of western food with the affordability to
them at reasonable price.

The main target markets of our homemade Mexican food are mainly targeted
to a large group of potential customers from different demographic age in that
specific area. We have come up with an idea of many options of menu that may suit
the customers’ taste bud and that way too, they might be automatically become our
regular customer. Hence, the customers also will promote our food service to their
friends and family or even their colleagues that will increase our opportunity in this
service truck business. This service truck will be located at any strategic area such
as at the roadside near a park so that it will be easier for people or pedestrians to
stop by and bought our homemade food. Thus, we also took orders through online
and delivery services just like the other fast food restaurants.

As we can see, owning a service truck business can lead one to become a
successful entrepreneur. Service trucks represent a mobile, versatile and low cost
restaurant. We can travel to our customers or set up in crowded locations to ensure
a successful business day. Also, these service trucks can use their mobility to visit a
number of different locations and when combined with a good product, it can draw a
crowd at any location. With this too, it is the fastest way for our business opportunity
to increase in such environment as there are least competitors in the Sarawak town
area. The business idea of this service truck business might be the wisest business
decision.

Our first service strength is, we are the first who provides beauty service in a
truck where you can receive lessons, services, and consultancy. We believe that
people will get attracted to it since it is a new thing. Then, the beauty truck will not let
the customers go through the hassle of traveling far away and searching for a beauty
studio in a secluded place. In addition, our makeup artists are certified, skilled and
experienced makeup artists.

Next, one of our weaknesses is our beauty truck is relatively a new starting business
whose name has not been established so people may be reluctant to try it. Furthermore, the
beauty truck has a limited space, so it can only fit a certain number of people in one time. It
may lead to limited beauty gurus and customers that can fit inside of a truck in one time.

Following that, the opportunity that we can see from the service that we are providing
is that in a growing economy like today, people will be more likely to try new things so they
may be interested in trying our service. Besides that, we may collaborate with well-known
beauty gurus where we can open special classes with them. We can also make a YouTube
channel and make an application so people can know about us.

Finally, there are several threats in the business. First, a lot of beauty gurus has
established their name, some people are reluctant to try new beauty gurus service. Then

3.2 FRUITY e-BOOST TRUCK

Our first strength is, we are the first and the very specific F&B truck because we are
only focusing on mix fruits energy drink. We believe that people nowadays have too much
hectic life which includes tight work routine that absorbs all the energy from their body and
soul so they need energy drink to refill the energy. Plus, we do not need skilled worker to join
us because they can learn it easily in few days. Furthermore, our drinks take less than 3
minutes to be done so it would not take longer time for the customers to wait.

Next, one of our weaknesses is that our truck is a new player in this F&B industry so
we have so many things to catch up in order to be like other F&B truck in Kuching. Not to be
forgotten, there are quite a number of F&B truck in Kuching so we have to try hard to fit in
like them. Other than that, we have limited fruits’ supplier since we are still new. We need to
do a lot of researches to know what fruits people do want or do not want.

After that, the opportunity that we can obtain by doing this truck business, we will
slowly observe people and able to know what new flavours we want to add and mix or even
to let go. We can also collaborate with other F&B truck, hair salon truck, or any other truck
that may need our energy drink. Besides that, after one year operating, we may have the
opportunity to make an application so that people can order online, view the promotions and
even track our location to buy our energy drink.

Finally, the only threat in the business is that after we have open our e-boost truck,
there will be other truck that will try to eliminate us. They will also try to market their business
like us.

3.3 MAMARITOS MEXICAN TRUCK

Our first strength is, we are the only service truck that provide homemade Mexican
food in that specific area. These types of cuisine are rarely to be found in a restaurant in
Sarawak. Besides, we have strong and experienced service truck staff which will work and
help to serve the food as fast as they could. The prices of our food also will be cheaper than
the other competitors’.

Next, one of our weaknesses are the cost we will spend to buy the ingredients will be
rise up due to the increased in food costs. This will make us spend more than we should on
the ingredients needed. Second, the weakness of this business is the preparations of the
food. It is similar as the fast food restaurants which are unhealthy for people.

Moreover, the opportunity we can obtain from this business is we could have a large
group of potential customers which are both students and foreigner. They might be attracted
to our food service which they find appealing. Besides, we also could have new and different
mothering menu options for them and we could hold a promotion on festive season.

Finally, there will be several threats in our business which is the health department.
Our food may contain higher calories due to the ingredients that will affect our health. Then,
the main competitor which is the other service truck who provides food service will lower
their prices. There will be also the change in taste and preference of the customers which
will lessen the people who will come by.

4.0 SELECTION OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Based on our studies, we have decided to choose on the Le Beauty Service Truck
out of all three truck business ideas that we did come up with. There are few specific and
also non-specific reasons why we have chosen the Le Beauty Service Truck as our service
truck business.

First of all, in terms of legality, it is easy to obtain a legality permits in beauty service
truck business compare to F&B truck since we would not be dealing with food and drinks.
Since we are not dealing with food, we will only have to pass through the department of
economic development and the chamber of commerce the municipality. We will skip the food
safety authority. Once we have the operating licence, we can straightaway find the supplier
for all of the things that we need. Plus, we only need GDL licence to drive the truck.

Next, based on the potential and growth, this Le Beauty Service Truck idea has the
highest rate among the three because it is a fresh idea. Energy drink truck is good but not
good enough since people sometimes prefer other drinks than energy drink. Plus, there are
many competitors in F&B segment when it comes to services truck business.

Other than that, when it comes to the capital requirement, it is easier and cheaper to
open a beauty service truck compare to open a real beauty spa or salon or even F&B truck.
The risk is even less and it will be easier to maintain the business. In addition, through what
we have analysed, the interest and demand of people wanting to take lessons in makeup
services and hairdo services has been raising over the years. Beauty is very important these
days. Even when we want to get a job, we must fulfil their requirement in beauty standards.
Our beauty truck provides fun and benefits in reasonable price.

Last but not least, the reason as to why we chose the Le Beauty Service Truck is
because it can give us the most profit and revenue among the other two business ideas
since it is a fresh from the oven idea. People usually open businesses like F&B, toys and
merchandise in the truck so why not we make it different?

5.0 CONCLUSION

In conclusion, our service may has been provided in the market as of now. However, we
have made an improvement for the customers as they does not have to go through the
hassle of traveling far away from their place to our studio and go through another trouble of
searching for the location of the studio.

Our targeted audience are career people, housewives and also students. We believe that
these people does not have a lot of time in their hands. Our purpose is to save the trouble
and time from being wasted for our customers. Therefore, we believe that they are the
perfect targeted audience.

More over, the problems faced by the people is that some beauty studios tend to be far
away from their place. Thus, the reason why we make it easier for them with our service of
going to their districts instead of them going to our district.

Last but not least, we believe that we have gone through the criteria evaluation and
selection process with no flaws. Thus, the reason why we have chosen the Le Beauty
Service Truck as our best business idea out of all three business ideas for our business.
