GRADUATE SCHOOL

1. There is no significant difference among the

assessment of the three groups of respondents in

terms of the above parenting styles.

2. There is no significant relationship between the

parenting styles of the fathers and mothers and the

mean academic performance of the student

respondents.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The study will be concentrated on the Parenting Styles

and Its Influence on the Academic Performance of the Grade 7

students of Baggao National Agricultural School Sta.

Margarita Annex for the school year 2017-2018

average as reflected in their Form 137-A for the school year

2017-2018.

Research Design

The study made use of the descriptive-correlational

design. Such was used in this study because it describes the

respondents profile variables as well as their awareness on

the parenting styles manifested by their parents and the

parenting styles of parents themselves. The descriptive

design was also used to define the academic performance of

the student-respondents.

The correlational design described the results of

the correlational tests such as the test of difference on

the assessment of respondents on the parenting styles of

fathers and mothers and test of relationship between the

parenting styles of parents and the mean academic

performance of students and their profile variables.

The Documentary analysis was employed for the

student-respondents mean academic performance as reflected

in their form 137-A.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of the study were the grade 7 students

of Baggao National Agricultural School Sta. Margarita Annex

including their parents as secondary respondents. The data

on the respondents of the are presented in Table 1.

fathers and mothers have been considerably related to the

academic achievement of the students. The authoritative

style of parenting is commonly practiced by parents of the

Junior High School students of Baggao National Agricultural

School. Children of authoritative parents rank the highest

academically of all other parenting styles, with more school

involvement and less undesirable behaviors.

While authoritative parenting style is predominantly

used by parents, they also manifested to have practiced the

authoritarian, permissive, and negligent parenting styles

which characterize the varied style of parenting.

Derived from the substantial findings and conclusions

of this study, the researcher advocates the following

recommendations:

1. Since Authoritative parenting style influences the

Academic Performance of students it is a recommended that

parents should adapt this style.

2. Guidance and counseling should be reinforced, to

assist neglected students by guiding them on matters

important to their future.

3. The Proposed intervention program should be

strictly implemented.

4. A similar study should be steered using other

variables of parenting styles in a more comprehensive scope.
