World’s oldest duty-free operator
FOR 47 years, the Motibhai Group has serviced customers in the
areas of duty-free and travel retail at the Nadi International Airport.
The Motibhai Group has been one of the pioneer operators at the
Nadi International Airport since 1971.
Motibhai Group chairman Kirit Patel said the company had an un-
broken record of 47 years as far as the duty-free and travel retail was
concerned.
“This segment of our business has literally evolved with the tourism
sector and economic prosperity of our beloved country,” he said.
“We are an integral part of the world duty-free scene. In the inter-
vening years we have brought innovation and world class operations at
Nadi Airport duty-free store so much so that we have received various
international recognition.”
He also said the presence and gradual development of Nadi Interna-
tional Airport since it was established in the 40s had created opportuni-
ties for generations of travellers and business operators.
“I wish to commend the management of Fiji Airports for carrying
on the good work and keeping up with the times via its modernisation
project to enable world-class shopping and travelling experience for
visitors to our shores.”
Fiji Airports executive chairman Faiz Khan said the Motibhai Group
had provided a long service to the duty-free and travel retail industry.

ern traveller’s needs,” he said.

Prouds and UnionPay

launch exclusive
UPLAN promotion
Customers carrying the 62-series UnionPay bankcards are in for
some great offers at all Prouds outlets Fiji-wide.
In partnership with UnionPay International, the management of
Prouds is excited to unveil a joint promotion called “UPLAN” which
allows customers to qualify for instant discounts at all participating
stores.
The promotion is being promoted at a global stage by UnionPay
at various media platforms including Ctrip which is one of the largest
Chinese provider of travel services including accommodation reser-
vation, transportation ticketing, packaged tours and corporate travel
management.
UnionPay has become the central and pivotal part of China’s bank-
card industry, and plays an essential role in the industry development.
As the bankcard association in China, UnionPay operates an inter-
bank transaction settlement system through which the connection and
switch between banking systems and the inter-bank, cross-region and
cross-border usages of bankcards issued by associate banks could be
realized.
Based on the system construction and operation as well as the bank-
card network, UnionPay actively collaborates with various industrial
parties like commercial banks in the efforts to formulate and extend
united UnionPay card standards and regulations, create independent
bankcard brand, promote the development and application of bankcard,
maintain an orderly bankcard acceptance market and prevent bankcard A Chinese customer gets all excited with the UPLAN promotion at
