Eye camps were conducted at 2 places, in Kanyakumari and Nellai districts in which 378 were treated for their eye ailments and 84 under went cataract operation.8 persons were given eye medicines and 18 persons were given spectacles. In our Medicare Programme, 1923 patients were examined and treated for various common ailments, through 14 Rural Medical Centers in KanyakumariNellai and Thoothukudi districts, 4 tailoring units are functioning well in Nellai district with the total attendance of 81. One Yuva Bharathi subscription also collected. In Shivalinga Pooja conducted at 3 places in Kanyakumari District 177 devotees participated. Under ‘Adopt a Granny Programme’, 30 destitutes and old people were provided with monthly solatiums, in the form of rice, dhal,oil,etc.,for their livelihood and 115 persons provided with rice only in Southern five districts of Tamilnadu. In Durga Pooja conducted at 3 places, in Kanyakumari District 181 devotees participated. Kendra Varga was conducted in Virudhunagar district at one place and 12 participated. Through various branch centres, including Thoothukudi A.O. and book stalls, literature books were sold for Rs.1,25,838/- Karyakartha Camp was conducted in Virudhunagar district at two places and 47 participated. Personality Development Camp - Vallioor Inspiring Incidents R.Gnanakumari - Mangavilai - Kanyakumari District In our Creche, G.R. Lakshmi Gayathri lying. She has some defect in one of her eyes. She finds it very difficult to write and read. Hence we instructed her parents to take her to an eye specialist, Her parents agreed and arranged for an eye check up in Aravind eye hospital, Tirunelveli. On 2nd March she came and asked for two days leave. I informed this to all the children in the class and asked them to pray together for her recovery. When she was absent, all the other kids asked about her. While playing, a boy took a playing tool in his hand and used it as a phone and talked to Gayathri inquiring about her eye treatment. The other children also followed that and talked to her, The affection and awareness shown by the young kids touched my heart. Once I met her with parents in the Busstand. Her parents informed me happily that Charumithra used to sing and dance for the songs “Jai Jai Rama Krishna Hari” and “Ramakrishna namame” at home and we all enjoy it. On hearing this I was also much impressed and felt happy. R.Kalaiselvi- Andarkulam - Kanyakumari district We don’t have drinking water facility in our Creche. A well wisher named Bharathi supply ‘water can spending money on his own cast. He has been doing this for more than one year. We are proud of this service. J.Subbulakshmi - K.Thangammalpuram - Thoothukudi district This month we received playing materials from Kendra. On seeing those things our Creche children were much delighted and played happily. They collect and arrange. Then properly after finished playing. Besides this most of the kids fetch their parents to the Creche and show the playing kits. Their involvement and attachment towards our Creche touched our heart R.Ramalakshmi - Soorangudi - Thoothukudi district Last November our villager Thiru. Karuppasamy attended the eye camp condueded in our Creche. As per the doctor’s advice he underwent an operation. When I went to his house to see him. He happily welcomed me and admitted that then he had good eye sight in the operated eye and started selling herbal plants in the street. He also told me that he would like to take treatment for the other eye also. | felt delighted on hearing this. C.Srimathi - Kannambivilai - Kanyakumari district I wish to appreciate the dedicated service of our helping maid Radha akka, Daily she served noon meal to our kids kindly and clean their hands, mouth and dress patiently. The kids express their love by some comments. Radha aunty, today food is very nice! ate well ... on hearing such responses from the kids her face shines like silver and blossoms. She does every work with intense care and dedicated love. I daily pray to God for her to serve like this in our Creche. C.Sasikala - Pudhugrammam — Nellai district While serving noon - meals, the children ask for drumstick one by one. I convinced them saying that I would use more number of drumsticks the next day. On hearing this a kid named Sugapriyan told me at once that he would bring a lot of drumsticks from his home. As told he brought his mother with a lot of drumsticks the next day. His mother assured me to supply the same during the seasons. This touched my heart. A.Muthurani — Ayansingampatti- Nellai district In our Creche, we practice the kids never to come without taking bath. A 3years old boy named Sivavarin while suffering from fever, refused to go to School without taking bath, When his grandmother informed me about his stubbornness in taking bath, I was really stunned. N,Vasanthi —Vallioor — Tirunelveli district Imet Smt. Lakshmi at home after getting operation in her eye through our free eye camp. She happily uttered that most of the free eye camps don’t arrange for operation. But Vivekananda Kendra only arrange everything freely and properly. Now her eye sight is fine and they had great confidence in Kendra’s service activities.
