MORAL IMPLICATIONS OF PRESIDENT BENIGNO “NOYNOY” AQUINO’S
INAUGURAL SPEECH

“I had a simple goal in life: to be true to my parents and our country as an honorable son, a
caring brother, and a good citizen”.
“We are here to serve and not to lord over you”.
“To those who talk about reconciliation, if they mean that they would like us to simply forget
about the wrongs that they have committed in the past, we have this to say: there can be no
reconciliation without justice”.
“You are the boss so I cannot ignore your orders”.
-Benigno Aquino

These are some words dictated and used by our president that, as a citizen of our
country, was deeply affected and touched. They maybe simple and short, but all I need was
hope and certainness. As one of the people who had been affected by the countless corruption,
pollution, over-priced products, and low economic services of our government, national
citizens, and land, I, or should I say we are tired of all this. That’s why for me, majority of what
president Noynoy had promise made our people dream, hope and strive once again.

From what he had promise to us in his inaugural speech, many moral implications can
be made and shown. Mostly of it was purely positive. Just like on what he had stated in his
objectives for public welfare (Quality education, including vocational education; improved
public health services such as PhilHealth for all within three years; a home for every family,
within safe communities), this had made us feel more hopeful that there will be a time that the
government will prioritize our financial, educational and health needs. He also stated that he
will strengthen the armed forces and the police to give added protection for ordinary folk. This kind
of promise will give the majority of the population a sense of security and justice and can make the
unlawful doubt their wrong doings, thus discontinuing it. Another promise he had made was to
help set up trading centres that will directly link farmers and consumers. People will now show
more interest in promoting our products by doing honest businesses. And lastly, by telling us
that he and the government will help us in our goal to create jobs at home to avoid the need to
look for employment abroad. This will certainly relieve people and give them hope, that they can
nurture and take care their family (financially, mentally, and physically) just by staying here in
their motherland.

With so many promises he wish to fulfil, there would always be a negative moral
implication. This is because some people doubt president Noynoy’s skills and enthusiastic
being. Some also had already heard the promises (based from recurring presidents of our
country) but was never put into action. Thus, making some people careless and pessimistic
about what will happen to our country.

To summarize it all, I believe that majority of our people had been given hope, freedom
and a sense of independents.
