6- Course Learning Outcomes-


Students graduating from this course on Electrical Circuits should demonstrate:

1. familiarity with linear circuit theory and analysis techniques in both the time and
frequency domains;
2. to understand the time response of simple pole and double pole linear systems
3. to use the Bode plot in magnitude and angular form to describe the response
4. to write the equations for 3-phase circuits in delta and wye connections
5. to calculate active, reactive and apparent power in 3-phase circuits
6. to calculate the circuit parameters of 2-port networks,
7. specifically the impedance, admittance, hybrid and transmission parameters
8. to write the nodal and mesh equations using the Laplace transform formulation
9. to understand the meaning of the Laplace transform
10. To write the Laplace transform of the basic signals
11. To use the main properties of the Laplace transform
12. To obtain the inverse Laplace transform using the method of partial expansions
13. To calculate and plot the convolution of two signals
14. To use Fourier series for the analysis of electrical signals
15. To calculate the Fourier coefficients, and obtain them from pSpice simulations

3- Frequency response. Transfer functions & the decibel scale. Bode plots.
Resonance. Scaling. pSpice
4- Introduction to the Laplace transform. Definition and Properties. Inverse
Transform. Convolution integral.
5- Applications of the Laplace transform. Network methods and analysis. Transfer
functions, state variables. Applications: network stability
6- Fourier Series. Trigonometric. Symmetry considerations. Circuit applications.
Average power and rms values. Exponential series. pSpice
7- Fourier Transform. Definitions and Properties. Circuit applications. Parseval’s
theorem
8- Two Port Networks. Impedance, admittance, transmission and hybrid parameters.
Interconnection between networks. Applications
