Professional Development and Evaluation Plan: 2017-2018

Article 22, Section B:

Criteria 1: Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and/or perform effectively in other


current assignments.
Specific Objectives:
1. Guide the COE partnerships; facilitate and co plan the Governance Council (GC) through
the lens of new COE mission and vision.
2. Facilitate college level professional development opportunities.
3. Lead student support services (COMPASS) work for equity and access.
4. Participate in collaboration with California State University Northridge and Michigan
State University on teacher preparation programs.

Methods of Assessment:
Reflect upon the following -
1. Action plan/agenda from Governance Council
2. Evaluations and surveys from professional development and presentation opportunities.
3. Progress of action items identified by COMPASS team.
4. Plan and collaborative action items with CSUN and Michigan State.

Expected Achievement
1. Documented transition to new mission and vision in work with GC.
2. Use COE mission and vision as foundations for development
3. Documented COMPASS action plan.
4. Documented collaborative action steps.

Criteria 2: Scholarly or creative achievement or research.


Specific Objectives:
1. Submit a manuscript an article for publication in a refereed journal or submit creative
work.
2. Submit a proposal to present research related to my research agenda.

Methods of Assessment:
Reflect upon the following -
1. Research agenda.
2. Completion of article or creative work and submission to a refereed journal or creative
jury.

Expected Achievement:
1. Submitted research article to a refereed journal or juried creative work.
2. Completed proposal to present research at a regional or national conference.

Criteria 3: Evidence of continuing preparation and study.

Specific Objectives:
1. Attend available workshops, webinars, and/or conferences related to executive leadership
and to my overall research agenda.
2. Participate in common reading on critical race/equity.

Methods of Assessment:
Reflect upon the following -
1. Activities and learning form conferences and workshops.
2. Common book reading.

Expected Achievement:
1. To use relevant concepts, research, and activities acquired at conferences and workshops
in my role as Director of Partnerships.
2. Complete a common book read and relate learning to Article 22 and the New COE
mission and vision.

Criteria 4: Contribution to student growth and development.


Specific Objectives:
1. Promote and support the research inquiries and advise doctoral students from The
Department of Educational Leadership.
2. Serve as Program coordinator for BIG on the MSU campus.
3. Lead student support services - guiding equity and access.

Methods of Assessment:
Reflect upon the following -
1. Meetings and communications about research projects and steps toward degree
completion advisees; document capstones and other landmarks doctoral students.
2. Meetings, implementation of BIG Scholar development sessions
3. Progress of student support services, work, and impact on students.

Expected Achievement:
1. Documented progress or completion of research projects by students and by advisees.
2. Documented BIG Scholars’ development sessions and persistence.
3. Documented progress for student support services and its impact on students.

Criteria 5: Service to the university and community.


Specific Objectives:
1. Serve on the COE Professional Partnership Advisory Board.
2. Lead the CETL Interactive Theater if Isms; develop topics, scripts and other documents
necessary for facilitating this faculty certificate at MSU.
3. Serve as MSU representative to Partners for Equity Development.
4. Facilitate partnerships between the COE and other colleges, and community
organizations.

Methods of Assessment:
Reflect upon the following -
1. Professional Partnerships advisory board meetings and activities.
2
2. Script writing and development, certificate completion, and professional development
engagement opportunities provided for faculty, staff and the community.
3. Partnership meetings and processes.

Expected Achievement:
1. Advance the partnership advisory goals for the COE and report recommendations to the
Leadership council.
2. Documented facilitation of Interactive Theater of Isms; continued development through
creating informances.
3. Documented outcomes of partnerships.
