Deleting SolidNetWork License Files

Delete old and expired SolidNetWork license files before upgrading to new ones.

1. Start SolidNetWork License Manager ( Start > Programs > SOLIDWORKS version > SolidNetWork License
Manager > SolidNetWork License Manager ).
2. On the Server Administration tab, under License File, click Modify, and then click Next until you reach the
Licenses screen.
3. On the Licenses screen, select the old or expired SolidNetWork license file, then click Remove.
4. Click Finish and then click OK.

Perform a Clean Uninstall of SolidWorks

procedure below accordingly. The procedure in the following document requires access and edits to the Windows registry. Any such edits are done at your own risk and should only be

1. Backup existing SolidWorks settings using the Copy Settings Wizard


a. Windows start menu > All Programs > SolidWorks [version] > SolidWorks Tools > Copy Settings Wizard
b. Choose Save Settings and save them to a specified location
2. Backup all local customized files (templates, design library, toolbox, etc.)
a. Templates: C:\ProgramData\SolidWorks\SolidWorks [version]\templates
b. Design Library: C:\ProgramData\SolidWorks\SolidWorks [version]\design library
c. Toolbox: C:\SolidWorks Data [version]>Weldment Profiles: C:\Program Files\SolidWorks
Corp\SolidWorks\lang\english\weldment profiles
d. SheetMetal Gauge Table: C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\lang\
english\Sheet Metal Gauge Tables
e. SheetMetal Bend Table: C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\lang\english\

3. Transfer license (standalone only):
a. Open SolidWorks > Help > Transfer License
4. Uninstall SolidWorks in the Control Panel (see pic below):

For 2012 and Future Versions:

5. In the SolidWorks Installation Manager, select Advanced Options and select the four check boxes to do a
complete uninstall.
6. When using this tool, some directories may still exist. Please remove the following:

DO NOT DELETE; instead, go into this key and delete only the IM & SolidWorks [version] subkeys, and
