COMPARISON ANTI DIARRHEA EFFECT FROM INDONESIAN BAY LEAF (Syzygium polyanthum [wright]

Walp) AND ANTING – ANTING LEAF (Acalyphus autralis Linn) INFUSION IN WHITE MALE MICE SWISS
STRAIN WHICH INDUCED Oleum ricini.

Recently, diarrhea has become the most common disease in both developing country and developed
country. Diarrhea also can cause incredible occurrence with a lot sufferers in short time. A plant that
usually used in traditional medication is Indonesia Bay Leaf and anting – anting leaf. This experiment
aim is for knowing comparison effect between Indonesian Bay Leaf (Syzygium polyanthum [wright]
Walp) and anting – anting leaf (Acalyphus autralis Linn) infusion to male mice Swiss strain.

Infusion method is choosen for extraction because it is simple and can be done by society. This
experiment use 25 mices age 2- 3 months, weight between 20-30 grams, then divided into 5 groups
randomly and each of group contains 5 mices. First group administered 25 % Indonesian Bay leaf
extract, second group administered anting – anting leaf dose 65 gr/kg, third group as positive control
administered loperamid, fourth group as negative control administered 5 % CMC Na and last group as
normal control. Collected data will be analyzed with ANOVA method and LSD method at significancy
level 95 % (alpha level = 0,05).
