Introduction

As part of the continuous improvements of teachers as well as enriching their

mastery in their field of teaching, a 10 day - regional training focusing on the Critical

Content of Grade 7 English. It was held last May 16-25, 2018 in Sevilla Resort, Lucena

City.

The training was intended to all Grade 7 English teachers across the Region IV-A

CALABARZON. The training dealt with the discussion of the common least mastered

competencies and contents in English 7. At the end of the seminar, it was expected that the

teachers-participants have refreshed their knowledge and their mastery of the topics.

Activities

The regional training started with an orientation of the activities and plans for the

10-day training of the Critical Content in English 7. The house rules were also mentioned

to guide the participants of the policies.

There was a also discussion on the new Philippine Professional Standards for

Teachers (PPST) by Dr. Jessica Lopez from the regional office. She mentioned the

importance of proper evaluation and assessments of teachers.

Also, for the 10-day training, the participants were divided into 16 classes to

accommodate them. In each class, there were facilitators for each topic. Knowing the

common least mastered competencies in Grade 7 English, the facilitators dealt in

discussing it and provided activities and workshops for the teachers. There were group

activities and presentations held where the teachers showed their mastery of the selected

Grade 7 topics. They were also provided sumptuous food and comfortable place to stay
in for the whole training. In the last night of the training, a socialization was held to

showcase the talents of the participants per class through a presentation. The Class 6

which was dominated by the Division of Calamba won the said presentation.

Reflection

Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to

excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.--- Paul J. Meyer

The previous 10-day Regional Training of Teachers on Critical Content of Grade 7

English made me realized that we shouldn’t stop learning. We’ve probably been teaching

the subjects for more than 5 years but are we producing productive and quality learners?

We are probably satiated with the same topics but do our learners mastered it already?

Every periodical exams, we could encounter the common least learned topics of the

students which seemed to be consistent. This training provided us, teachers, the opportunity

to go over what we know and learn. This helped me refreshed my knowledge of what I know

already. There is always room for improvement and this kind of training is one of the many

ways on how we could improve and develop ourselves as a teacher in order for us to cater

quality education and produce quality learners.
