School of Graduate Studies Distinguished Service Award Ceremony

Call to order (Pedro)

Good evening. We are going to get started with the Program. I would
like to welcome everyone to the 4th annual Graduate Student Distinguished
Service Award Ceremony. I am Pedro, a member of the Graduate Student
Advisory Board.

We have some special guest with us this evening and at this time I
would like to introduce them President Keenan, Provost Silva, Dean Baker,
Dean Neville. Thanks for coming!

We are thrilled that so many of you could join us here today to

celebrate these graduate students who have made unique contributions on the
SSU campus in their involvement, leadership, scholarship and civic
engagement. The week of April 1-7, 2018 is Graduate Student Appreciation
Week nationally. Graduate Student Appreciation Week was started in 1993
by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS) as
a way to support and appreciate graduate students. “The week seeks to
emphasize the contributions, impact and value of graduate and professional
students on campuses throughout the United States” (NAGPS.org).

At this time we would like to present the 2017-2018 Graduate Student

It has been a pleasure working with you all this past year. The members who
will be graduating in a few weeks, are Pedro, Jordan, James, Shakira,
Dorothy, Laura, and Maureen

Good luck as you embark on a different chapter in your lives! Spriha and I
are looking forward to serving as co-chairs of the board next year. If you are
interested in serving on the board, please notify your program coordinator so
he/she can nominate you. Thank you!
