GUIDELINES OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING REPORT

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING
MZZ4016
1.1 INTRODUCTION
This Industrial Training report is a documented report of the training and experience undergone by a
student in partial fulfilment of the requirements for a bachelor degree.

This manual will outline the report format for the Industrial Training report. These rules must be adhered
strictly.

1.2 FORMATTING

Language: English
Type and size of font: Arial 11, justified, double spacing
Margin: 2.5 cm (top, bottom, left, right)
Type of paper: White, A4, 80gsm
Total number of pages: 50 – 80 pages excluding appendices
Page number: Roman numerals (i, ii, iii ..) for acknowledgement, table of contents, list of tables
and figures and list of abbreviations/nomenclature) and numbers (1,2,3 .. ) for
chapter 1, 2 onwards
Submission: Ring binding, and plastic cover on the front and last page

1.3 CONTENT OF REPORT

Please refer to Appendix A.

Acknowledgement
A brief statement of appreciation in recognition of any special assistance rendered to the student during
the period of practical training should be included. It should be typed in single spacing and should not
exceed one page in length. (Refer to Appendix B)

Table of Contents
Titles of chapters, headings, and subheadings must be listed in the Table of Contents and must be
worded exactly as they appear in the body of the report. (Refer to Appendix C)

List of Tables and Figures


The numbers and the captions must be listed in the order they appear in the text. (Refer to Appendix D)

List of Abbreviations
Abbreviations or Nomenclature must appear after the lists of tables and figures arranged in alphabetical
order. (Refer to Appendix E)
Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION
This chapter should include:
 Objective of the training
 Why you have chosen this specific organization
 Which expectations about the training you had before you started your training

Page number should start in this chapter.

Chapter 2: TRAINING ORGANIZATION


This chapter should include:
 The activities of the organization
 A Short history
 Name of the departments (better if shown as an organization chart)
 Information about your department (that you are placed in):
o The name of supervisor(s)
o Their titles and responsibilities

o Basic duties of the department
o Brief information about the current projects
o Interrelations with other departments
 Duties During Training
o “everything” you have done during your training
o Projects you worked in
o What your duties and responsibilities were
o How you managed them, etc.
 Training Experience
o If you were given any in-firm training:
 What they about
 What you learn from them
o Brief discussion of new concepts you learned during your training (Details should be
included as an Appendix)
o Comparison of Faculty’s Program and real Life
 How your courses contributed to your industrial training
 What principles, ideas or elements of the courses were helpful in the internship
experience
 Knowledge or concepts that you did not from your courses, but would have been
useful to you during the internship
 Any such material that you think should be included in the department curriculum

You should use long sentences instead of bulleted items or phrases while explaining your duties. Include
all details about your work. Do not include any source codes in this section. They should be placed as an
Appendix. If necessary, you can include screen shots, but you must explain each screen shot in detail.

You should use your own words. We do not need any information from the establishment brochures or
webpage. Students who are in the same organization must prepare this section individually. Otherwise it
will be treated as COPY.

Chapter 3: CASE STUDY ANALYSIS


Chapter 3 is the most important part of your report. Please pay attention to it!

Chapter 4: CONCLUSION
This chapter should discuss on the evaluation of your training, opinion/views on the industrial training
program as a whole (how this program influenced your future career)
Can be discussed in terms of:
o Your duties and responsibilities
o Working conditions
o The activities and facilities of the organization
o The problems you faced during your training
o Your opinions about your organization:
 Appropriateness of the organization to your training expectations
 Your observations about the strength and weakness of the organization in the sector
 Your suggestions

APPENDICES
 Relevant documents/reports/brochures/pictures that you have created/learned/visited during the
training. (Refer to Appendix H)

Please pay attention not to include any irrelevant documentation in this part.

Note: Remember that this is a general outline and the section headings are put to give you an idea. You
may add other sections/subsections if you like. However, keep in mind that sections with a single
subsection is not meaningful.

Acknowledgements enable you to thank all those who have helped in carrying out the research. Careful
thought needs to be given concerning those whose help should be acknowledged and in what order. The
general advice is to express your appreciation in a concise manner and to avoid strong emotive
language.

Note that personal pronouns such as 'I, my, me …' are nearly always used in the acknowledgements
while in the rest of the project such personal pronouns are generally avoided.

The following list includes those people who are often acknowledged.
Note however that every project is different, and you need to tailor your acknowledgements to suit your
particular situation.

This chapter provides a general overview of industrial training. This chapter is organized into seven
sections. After this brief introduction, section 1.1 explains on the objectives of Industrial Training.
Followed by section 1.2, which discusses on the scopes of Industrial Training and section 1.3 on the
duration of Industrial Training. The discussion on the importance of Industrial Training is presented in
