1. Using Serendipity concept, find the shape function for quadratic serendipity family element

2. Write down the applications of FEM? Explain the convergence requirements of an interpolation
function used for the finite element formulation.

3. Classify and list the element types. Define Shape function. Write element stiffness matrix for spring
and beam element with example.

4. Explain Matrix Partitioning with suitable example. For the two bar truss as shown in figure below,
determine the horizontal displacement of node 1 and the axial force in each element. A force of P =
1000 kN is applied at node 1 while node 1 settles an amount  = 50 mm as shown. Let E = 210 GPa
and A = 6*10-4 m2 for each element.
