PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this project is to automate and simplify the student
management system. This project aims to make the student management process
simple to use and understand. This project will help the users by providing
different features in this new automated system.

Applications
Using this software we can automate all the student information such as
student details, course details, fees structure, academic performance and also
student activities. We can easily take the reports of all the students information in a
fraction of seconds.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

• Windows operating system

• SQL Server
• Visual Studio 2005

FRONT END:

The front end software that we use in our application is VB.Net 2005. Visual
Basic .NET (VB.NET) is an object-oriented computer language that can be
viewed as an evolution of Microsoft's Visual Basic (VB) implemented on the
Microsoft .NET framework. Its introduction has been controversial, as significant
changes were made that broke backward compatibility with VB and caused a rift
within the developer community.

The great majority of VB.NET developers use Visual Studio .NET as their
integrated development environment (IDE). SharpDevelop provides an open-
source alternative IDE.

The .NET Framework introduces a completely new model for the programming
and deployment of applications. .NET is Microsoft's vision of "software as a
service", a development environment in which you can build, create, and deploy
your applications and the next generation of components, the ability to use the
Web rather than your own computer for various services.
Backend

The back end software that we use in our application is SQL Server 2005.

Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS)

produced by Microsoft. Its primary query language is Transact-SQL, an
implementation of the ANSI/ISO standard Structured Query Language (SQL) used
by both Microsoft and Sybase.

SQL Server 2005 introduced support for .NET Framework. With this, stored
procedures could be written in any .NET language, using the entire set of libraries
available to the .NET Framework, as well the Common Type System.

However, unlike other processes, .NET Framework hosted in SQL Server 2005
utilizes memory and thread management capabilities provided by SQL Server,
rather than using built in capabilities of Windows. This enhances performance as
resource management algorithms are tuned for the usage pattern of SQL Server, as
compared to the generic algorithms in Windows.
