I. OBJECTIVES
 How do people in the cordillera use their own music
A. Content Standards  What are the characteristics of their music

 Bring an improvised percussion instrument and

 At the end of the lesson they will be able to recognize


the difference of the cordillera music among the other
music in the Philippines.
Specific Objectives:  To be able to appreciate the music of the Cordillera.
 To be able to create their own version of music
inspired by the music of cordillera.

IV. PROCEDURES
ELICIT Review past lessons
ENGAGE I will present different kinds of careers in the black board then each
student will take turns to write anything that is related and exclusive
to that career. Example: Soldier-Gun, Chef-Knife and chopping board,
Accountant-Calculator

EXPLORE I will then relate the different occupation to Cordilleras own identity,
just like each careers they have their own peculiarities and just like the
music of Cordillera it has its own distinct characteristic. You want to
know what it is?

EXPLAIN  I will first help them where the Cordillera region was
and it’s land mass and geographical features.
 Discuss the type of ethnic group the lives in the region.
 Enumerate the different characteristics of their music
 Discuss the vocal music that they have including the
musical instruments and the importance of each in a
certain ritual.

ELABORATE I will group them up to 6 groups and each give will be assigned to a
specific activity where music is utilized. For example: group 1 will be
assigned to peace pacts, group 2 will be the invocation of gods. Group
3 will be the rites of passage. They will then make a role play out of it
on how things happened in the following ceremonies and rituals.

EVALUATE I’ll give them an essay where they get to choose the ritual that they
liked that seemed to be important to them and explain how does the
certain ritual or activity has affected the people living in the cordillera.
