ACTION #1: Check the Fusing Unit S/N

Affected Fusing Units:

Part Number Description Affected Unit Production Lots
D1204001 Fusing Unit: NA: Ass'y Dec.2014 to Mar. 2016 production unit
D1204002 Fusing Unit: EU: Ass'y Dec.2014 to Mar. 2016 production unit

Reading the lot number:

Ex., S/N. ODTEH4C003254: December 2014 - ODTEH63003254: March 2016 production
S/N: ODTRFYM XXXXXX (13 digits)
ODT: Unit code
R: Region (D: DOM, N: NA, E: EU)
F: Factory (P: SRD, H: Shindoh)
Y: Year (4: 2014, 5: 2015, 6: 2016)
M: Month (1 -9, A: Oct, B: Nov, C: Dec)

The symptom does not occur if the fusing unit was originally installed in the machine at the factory.

ACTION #2: Check the AC Harness Wiring/Routing

1. Remove the Fusing Unit.
2. Remove the Fusing Upper Cover [A].

3. Check to see whether the blue harness (FG) is secured to the metal frame with a screw.

 If it is not (as shown in the “NG” photo on page 2), this means that the harness was wired/routed
incorrectly at the factory. Remove the fusing entrance guide plate and swap the blue and white
wires. (as shown in the “OK” photo on page 2).

ACTION #3: Check the Condition of the Harness Jackets and Electrode Terminal
1. Remove the bracket [A].

2. Check the connection positions of the AC harness terminals (pink).

 Correct (normal): The harness is wired over the rib on the left side (see “OK” photo).
 Incorrect (NG): The harness is wired over the rib on the right side (see “NG” photo).
 Loosen the screw and wire the harness in the correct position.

3. Check the position of the electrode plate.

 Correct (normal): The electrode plate is inserted in the boss.
 Incorrect (NG): The electrode plate is not inserted in the boss (see “NG” photo).
 Put the electrode plate into the correct position.

 See photos on page 4.

4. Check the exterior of the AC Harnesses (pink/white) for damage.

 If you can see any of the internal harness lines through the harness covering, affix tape to the
damaged areas as a temporary measure.
 Otherwise, no action is necessary.

 The blue harness is the FG Line, so damage to this harness is not a problem.

5. Attach Teflon tape (20-30 mm) to the edge of the U-shaped

ridge in the metal frame.

 Procure the Teflon tape locally.

photo below.)

6. Cut the tape along the dotted red line.

7. Reattach the fusing unit and other parts in the opposite order
removed.

REPLACING THE FUSING UNIT IF THE WIRES ARE DAMAGED:

 If there is a blue circle stamped on the label of the Service-parts box (See photo below.), this means
that the unit has been checked and has undergone insulation and pressure resistance testing (at the
Service Parts Center).
 If the lot number is G010616 or later, the unit has undergone insulation and pressure resistance
testing. (There is not a blue circle stamped.)
