Computer Systems

• Managing a team of four Army computer technicians by prioritizing and distributing work loads
that included service calls, on site computer repairs and maintenance, and dispatch of computer
technicians to remote locations.
• Preparing weekly, quarterly and yearly reports to upper level management and Combat Service
Support Automation Office, which was main IT headquarters for all of Fort Bragg. These reports
included all IT related problems and resolutions, and logistical inventory of all new computer
parts, software and network equipment.
• Adding hardware to computer systems such as: hard drives, video cards, sound cards, SCSI
devices, printers and scanners. In addition, updating documentation in order to record new
equipment installed and changes to computer configurations.
• Administering all desktop related functions, including software setup and configuration, which
included troubleshooting problems with sound cards, video cards, network cards, modems, hard
drives and memory.
• Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining proper set up of Windows 95, Windows 98 and
Windows XP operating systems.

• Configuring and monitoring security software on workstations, which included antivirus and
spyware software, to include proper configuration of windows firewall, and the use of Microsoft
Baseline Security Analyzer to ensure all workstations had the latest security fixes.
• Reading technical reference manuals for troubleshooting hardware and software in order to learn
cause of problems and implement a solution.
• Responsible for the backup of critical logistical data essential to company operations.
• Conducting a computer literacy class twice a year to key employees, with heavy emphasis on
safer Internet habits and the securing of critical files.

Network Support

• Restructuring and improving existing network to a more reliable and secure network by
centralizing computers and network devices when possible, upgrading network hubs and switches
to routers, and upgrading of wireless routers from WEP encryption to WPA2 encryption.
• Providing technical support for network connectivity issues, which included the troubleshooting
of network devices such as routers, modems, switches and the physical inspection of CAT 5 UTP
and STP cables.
• Configuring security features on all network routers, such as MAC address filtering, IP address
range filtering and ARP protection.
• Taking several logistical courses in the Army, which taught me how to organize and keep track of
inventories associated with computer systems and network devices.
