What are voltage adjustment taps on SolaHD LVGP transformers?

Answer:

In many instances, the supply voltage delivered to the input (primary) or the required voltage output (secondary) do
transformer’s nameplate. If this happens, the output (secondary) voltage will vary from its nameplate rating because
During design and manufacture of the transformer, additional terminations are added to the primary windings to slig

By closely matching the voltage being applied to the appropriate tap, a desirable output voltage can be obtained. Ta

Adjusting for high or low voltage on the input is pretty straight forward, just match the closes tap to the measured inp
voltage listed on the transformer nameplate.

The sample problem below is another way of utilizing the primary taps to obtain a secondary voltage that can be typ
on the nameplate. This would allow for using a standard transformer in place of a custom.

Sample Problem:

The customer requires a three phase transformer with 150 kVA, 480 Vac Primary and 400 Vac Secondary.

480 Vac Primary to 400 Vac Secondary is not a standard configuration however, you may use our standard part num
Transformer with nominal voltage of 480 V Delta Primary and 380Y/220 Vac Secondary at 150 kVA.

This unit has taps on the primary side and by adjusting the taps to tap# 5 (456V) as shown on the wiring diagram be
achieved.
