Student Response and Assessment Tools

Lesson Idea Name: Learning Basic Math

Content Area: Math
Grade Level(s): 3rd Grade
Content Standard Addressed: MGSEK.CC.4 Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities;
connect counting cardinality.

Technology Standard Addressed: 3: Knowledge Constructor

Selected Technology Tool:

☐ Socrative ☐ iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐ Plickers ☒ Kahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms
☐ Other:

Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:

☐ Computer ☐ Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) ☐ Phone ☒ Tablet (such as iPad)
☐ Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Type of session:
☒ Teacher-Paced ☐ Student-Paced
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):
☒ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☐ Applying ☒ Analyzing ☒ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I will use different Student Response Tools to relate to all of my
students learning needs.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. We will have an introductory video that explains how Kahoot! Works to prepare them for
the in class activity.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☒ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: The students will participate in the Kahoot!
And answer the questions to the best of their knowledge. Materials needed will be an electronic device that
has access to the Kahoot application or website. The activity should last roughly 10 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? So that after working the equation, they are aware of what the correct answer is if they got
the incorrect answer.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

As a class, we will discuss what some students may have found difficult and work on helping them with those
particular problems.
How will the data be used? I will use the data from the Kahoot! To see where the class is with the materials
that we are learning. Doing this activity before a test or quiz is a good idea to assess and see how much of the
material the students understand. I will simply use this activity as practice only. There will be no grade
awarded for his activity. Data from the Kahoot! Will be discussed in class, which will allow students to ask
questions about problems they may have struggled with.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My goal for this activity is to give more practice to the
students on the content that we are learning in class. To give them confidence in doing the math problems on
test and quizzes on their own.

Reflective Practice: I feel that the activities that I have created can impact students learning because it
creates good practice skills. It also allows them to think quickly about math problems and being able to retain
the information rather than not knowing it. To further extend this lesson, I would have the students come up
with their own math problems and quiz each other on the Smart Board.
