ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF PD INFORGRAPHICS 2

There are varieties of method educators can choose as alternative professional

development. With the highest interest and participation rate from a personally conducted

survey, data shows that hands-on and informational professional development workshops are

most effective. Teachers are highly engaged and motivated to participate in the professional

development. The professional development would begin with an introductory period that will

help build insight on the digital tools. The introductory will help teachers build a connection

between the technology and class curriculum. The cost of a workshop is often paid for by the

district, and if it’s offered at a private company, it’s typically affordable.

Professional development workshops are best put in future practices because the hands-

on approach will promote motivation and encouragement. Colleagues will naturally participate in

peer-based coaching and discuss possible implementations in the class. Brainstorming among

colleagues will build a professional learning network that will emphasize future communication

and collaboration (Eisen, 2001). Great feedback from colleagues and collaboration will deepen

understanding of the information being presented. Having the hands-on approach will provide

participants plenty to discuss (Robinson & Strauss, 2014)

Overall, conducting an informative, professional development workshop that includes

hands-on activities will help promote peer-based coaching. Teachers’ will be supportive of each

other's ideas and brainstorm the effective implementation in the classroom. Thus, improving

student success. Likewise, it continually improves their teaching skills by learning from one

another by exploring proven and promising technology practices (ISTE, 2018).
