Describe the rule used in each number pattern and list the three numbers that come next. The
lists feature 3-digit numbers.
Example:
1.Write the numbers that come next. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, _____, _____, _____ ...
Solution:
Arrange the nuber from the smallest to the greatest, if the sequence number is in
increasing order (Ascending order)
Solution :
Arrange the number from greatest to the smallest, if the sequence number is in decreasing
order (Descending order)

V. Approximation
There three main ways to round numbers :
to the neares ,10,100,100,1000 and the others
to certain number of significant figures
to certain number of decimals place
If the digit is less than 5, we do round up to the number. However if the digit is 5 or
more than 5, we round up to the next whole number.
Note that a measured length such as’ 12 cm to the neares ‘ cm means that the
actual length lies between 11.5 cm and 12.5 cm
VI. Estimation
Estimation is useful for finding out a rough approximate of a sum or different of
number.
Example : to the estimate the sum of 256 and8063, follow the steps bellow.
Solution :
Step 1: Round of 256 and 8063 to the nearest hundred.
256 ≈ 300
8063 ≈ 8100
Step 2: Find the sum of estimated numbers.
300 + 8100 = 8400.
Hus, the estimate of the su of 256 and 8063 is 8400.
Note: the actual sum of 256 and 8063 is 8319 whish is quite close to 8400.

IV . Area of Triangle
A. Identify the base and the height of triangle
height height
base base
base
height
B. Use a formula to find the area of a triangle
Area of rectangle ABCD =
= breadth x length = AD x DC = Triangle is a half of rectangle,
so area of triangle = ½ x area of rectangle
Area of triangle = ½ x base x height.
TRIANGLE
Example:
height
base
10 cm
height

Solution:
e
Area of6triangle
cm
= ½ x base x height
= ½ x 6 cm x 10 cm
= 30 cm2
FRACTION
Like and Unlike Fraction
In order t identify like and unlike fraction, look at the denominator of each fraction.
A. Example of like fraction: ( the same of denumerator)
→ → and
Adding and Subtracting the like fraction with the direct step
Addition Subtracting →
= =
B. Unlike Fraction
When denuminator of the fraction are different, the first step of addition or subtractio of the fraction is
making the same of they denuminator.:
Example of Addition:
Or
Example of subtratiion:
Or _
C. Adding mixed number
There are two ways in wich we can add mixed numbers. One method of adding mixed numbers is to add the
whole numbers fisrt and then add the fraction.
Addition of
Fisrt Method :
Step 1 : 3 + 1 = 4, then
Step 2 :
Step 3: 4 + 1 = 5
Thus , the sum of
is 5
Second method:
Make the improper fraction of the mix number .
Step 1 : 5 - 2 = 3, then
Step 2 :
Step 3: 3 + =
Thus , the subtraction of
Method 2:
E. Product of Fraction
When we multiply a fraction with whole number or with fraction is the same as times the
fraction with whole number or fraction.
Example fisrt problem, :
When multiplied by 7 =
Thus multiplied by 7 is
When multiplied by =
When dividing a fraction by a whole number, we are actually increasing denominato by the
number of times the fraction is devided.
Example:
When
Thus , divided by 3 is
RATIO
A. Simple Ratio
A ratio does not indicate the actual size of the quantities involdved.
Example:
Jonnah has some toys .6 toys are red and 4 toy are green.
Thus, the ratio of the number of red toys to the number of green toys is 6:4
B. Equivalent ratio
Equivalent ratios are ratios that can be changed in proportion
Jonnah has some toys .12 toys are red and 8 toys are green.
Thus, the ratio of the number of red toys to the number of green toys is 12:8, and the same
proportion ratio 6:4 and the ratio of green toys to the red toys is 4:6.
Percentage
A.Percentage is the meaning divide by 100 ,
then 15 percentis the same as 15% = 15/100
or we can write in decimal 0.15 so
15% = 15/100 = 0.15
Fraction Decimal Percentage
1/5 0.2 20%
3/4 0.75 75%
5/4 1.25 125%
Solution:
C. Percentage increase
Step 1, find the different between the 2 quantities tha t are given.
The answer that is the obtioned is the actual increase in quantities.
Percentage decrease
Step 1, find the different between the 2 quantities tha t are given.
The answer that is the obtioned is the actual dcraese in quantities.
Example:
There are 50 red balls and 40 balls in a basket . How many per cent more red balls than green
balls are there?
Solution:
40 green balls is the denominator
The difference in number = 50 – 40 = 10 balls
Percentage =
