NARRATIVE REPORT
Numeracy is the combination of mathematics knowledge, problem solving
and communication skills required by all persons to function successfully within our
technological world.

Project All Numerates is a program of the Department of Education which

aims to make every Filipino a numerate. DepEd Region III with the joint efforts of
different primary and secondary schools are implementing zero non numerates in
their respective schools by using different strategic intervention materials assuring
that there will be zero non numerates before the end of the school year.

Every Grade 7 teacher of Gatiawin High School conducted this project. I

conducted this in the section of Trust (Grade 7-Trust) which consists of 38
students. I gave the 4FS test and explained to them its mechanics, 4 minutes every
operation except for division which is 5 minutes. While I was observing the
classroom, they were all focused in answering because of the time pressure. Thus,
some learning can be achieved atleast with the pressure they were experiencing, I
believe. While most of them were focused, there were also students who felt
frustration whenever the timer stops and they aren’t finished yet.

So basically they were trying their best to finish the test, but unfortunately
some still can’t. That’s why Project AN is made for them to be given opportunities
to practice and apply the mathematics they have learned.

Indeed, support for non-numerate students is essential in ensuring that all

teachers see themselves as making a contribution to children’s numeracy.
