3 Course Summaries
3.1 Fundamental Courses
Implement ways to enhance the network for coverage, capacity and quality.
Understand NSS parameters that affect BSS performance.
Prerequisites
None
At the end of course delegates will be able to:
Have a basic understanding air-interface
Have a basic understanding UMTS network elements and architecture (Rel’99)
Understand CDMA spreading
Understand types of code
Be familiar with logical, transport and physical channels
Ideally the delegate will have had formal training on 3G Air-interface similar to
K021, 0046 & 0056.
At the end of course delegates will be able to:
Have a good understanding of the folowing subjects:
Coverage and capacity on 3G networks
Release 5 HSDPA cell planning
Release 6 HSUPA
Link Budgets for Rel’99 & HSPA networks
Basic understanding of the LTE air interface is required. Must understand the
frame structure for FDD and TDD.
At the end of course delegates will be able to:
Have a good understanding of the following subjects:
Measurement reports
Handover Procedures
LTE Air-Interface
The course assumes a very good understanding of LTE air interface and good
understanding of the technical concepts and network architecture.
We highly recommend delegates attend LTE for Engineers (K025)
At the end of course delegates will be able to:
Understand what influences coverage
Understand what influences peak data rates
Understand what influences cell capacity and cell throughput
Understand Frequency priorities
Have a basic understanding of Random Access
PLEASE NOTE:
This course does NOT cover backhaul dimensioning. Please refer to TO29 LTE
Backhaul Dimensioning
Prerequisites
Must be familiar with Asset 2G/3G
At the end of course delegates will be able to:
Understand what influences coverage
