COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to Business & Technology is the foundations course for the Business and Technology, and Entrepreneurship pathways.
The course is designed for high school students as a gateway to the career pathways above, and provides an overview of business and
technology skills required for today's business environment. Students will not only understand the concepts, but apply their knowledge
to situations and defend their actions/decisions/choices through the knowledge and skills acquired in this course. Employability skills
are integrated into activities, tasks, and projects throughout the course standards to demonstrate the skills required by business and
industry. Introduction to Business & Technology is a course that is appropriate for all high school students. After mastery of the
standards in this course, students should be prepared to earn an industry recognized credential: Microsoft Office Specialist for Word
Core Certification.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
One ream (500 sheets) of computer paper, 3 ring binder and a pen (or pencil). Periodically, students will need headphones/ear buds to
view interactive materials on the Internet. To reduce the transmission of germs and improve student attendance, a donation of hand
sanitizer or tissues would be greatly appreciated.
CAREERS:
Business professionals may be entrepreneurs, accountants, economists, managers, administrators, or analysts. Those considering a
career in small business or accounting should be analytical, detail-oriented, flexible, and decisive.
By signing below, I am indicating I agree to follow the guidelines as stated including the Internet and classroom policies listed in the
student handbook. I acknowledge that this is a lab class and understand the students will be working with power equipment. Students
will complete paper-pencil tests and computer-based tests along with surveys related to course content. Parents are encouraged to
access their child’s grades and attendance daily via “parent-portal” a website supported by Barrow County Schools. See Barrow
County School Web site for paperwork.
