Since almost thirty years before, about 2000 Z-pellers have been manufactured and delivered to

various customers and all have met with great favor.


Niigata Z-peller is developed aiming at large tugboat to make more agile in movement and quicker
responce. Big advantage features excellent steering performance, high efficiency, and easy
maintenance with robust structure.

introduce Z-peller CPP series.

The hydraulic pump for Z-peller steering


control can be driven by main engine
through the Power Take Off clutch.
This system can save the power
consumption. Even if the vessel gets into
the black-out conditions, the Z-peller
steering control can be done continuously
as fail safe.
The steering speed can be in constant by
variable displacement type hydraulic pump.

CONSTRUCTION

The Omega clutch consists of "Input Shaft", "Output Shaft", "Wet type Hydraulic Multiplate
Clutch" and "Geared Oil Pump" driven by the input shaft.
The clutch piston is connected with the output shaft. The "Omega valve" is provided to operate
the clutch hydraulic system to make the slipping contol reliable.
The torque is transmitted by viscous friction using the shear strength of an oil film, varying its
thickness.
To prevent the wearing of friction discs, a continuous flow of lubricating oil is fed between
friction discs during the slipping control. There is no contact between the friction element.

-Dividing the power from main engine.


-Making the ultra-low speed on propeller below idling speed of main engine.
-Smooth control on propeller speed resulting in grater maneuverability.
-The power take off (PTO) from engine front is available to drive auxiliary machinery.
-The slipping control can be done continuously for a long time owing to appropriate
cooling system.
