Course Objective
The objectives of this course are to enable the students to understand Sturm-Liouville theory, integral transforms,
Green's function method, to make them familiar with modeling of engineering problems, and to introduce them
complex calculus.
Course Content
Formulation of basic engineering problems. Sturm-Liouville theory. Fourier series. Complex calculus; Cauchy-
Riemann equations, power series, Cauchy's integral formula, residue theorem, improper integrals. Laplace, Fourier,
Hankel, Mellin transforms. Green's function method. Integral equations.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, the student is expected to be able to solve linear partial differential equations using
analytical methods such as separation of variables, integral transforms, Green's function, and to perform calculations
in the complex domain.
