Ephesians 1 New International Version (NIV)

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,

To God’s holy people in Ephesus,[a] the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly
realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the
world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[b] predestined us for adoption to
sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his
glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have
redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s
grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he[d] made known to us the
mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,10 to be put into
effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth
under Christ.

God is our Provider

1 Peter 1 New International Version (NIV)

Praise to God for a Living Hope

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us
new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an
inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,5 who
through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be
revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may
have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven
genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by
fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not
seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are
filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith,
the salvation of your souls.

God is our Living Hope

Why do we lose hope, because we are not living within the Inheritance, imagine a food that will
never spoil nor perish, or a picture that will never fade, you will never loose the taste or sight of
the picture.

In verse 4 there is an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you.

What does Inheritance means, is it money, house, or material things? It is the inexpressible and
glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1 New International Version (NIV)

Be Holy
13Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought
to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to
the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so
be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a]
17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as
foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as
silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from
your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.20 He
was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your
sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so
your faith and hope are in God.

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for
22

each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.[b] 23 For you have been born again, not of
perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.24 For,

“All people are like grass,

and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” [c]

And this is the word that was preached to you.

God is Holy

1 John 1 New International Version (NIV)

The Incarnation of the Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our
eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the
Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the
eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we
have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with
the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our[a] joy complete.

Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness

5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no
darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and
do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all [b] sin.
8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our
sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If
we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
