MOUNTAIN PEAK

“So often you find that the students you’re trying to inspire are the ones that end
up inspiring you”
-Sean Junkins
Along this journey, the narrow paths served as challenges to surpass in order
to reach the mountain peak. Over the past three months of stay at V. Bagasina
Sr. Memorial High School, where it became an avenue for me to build my own
philosophy in teaching, strengthened my desire; to be more passionate in
everything that I do and to continue the path that I am taking today. Moreover,
we cannot go way to the fact that everyone has its own challenges in life.
My first encounter with my students was the time when I introduced myself
to them. I felt like I was lost. It was a different feeling and I even asked myself,
“Will I survive?”. Hence, with the help of my cooperating teacher, Ma’am Karen,
she guided me all the way and even gave additional insights to improve my work.
Off-campus teaching became more memorable for me especially when I got to
know my students. But at first, it became difficult for me to have connections with
my students, how I will interact with them, ask them participate yet in the long
run, they gave me the opportunity to build relationship with them. Sharing their
experiences, telling stories was a huge a part in my heart, it touched me. I am on
cloud nine every time I saw them laugh and enjoy the activity that they had. At
the end of my class, I am glad whenever I knew in myself that I had a good job.
In the end of this journey, I realized that it’s not only the subject that you
taught only matters, teachers should also taught values to students to lead them
in the right path that they want to take in the near future.
