11 CONSTRUCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS -
Part 1 applies except as follows: -
11.4 Actions -
11.4.101 Type 1Q or 2Q -

14 HEATING -
This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows -
14.101 Temperature stress test -
In the United States a temperature stress test is N
conducted on all timers employing thermoplastic
materials in the actuating mechanism or for the
sole support of current-carrying parts
This test is not applicable to other parts of a N
timer which are neither used for sole support of
lie parts nor associated with the actuating
mechanism
The test sample provided for the electrical test is N
first conditioned in an air-circulating oven for 300
h. The temperature of the oven is to be the
temperature that the timer is intended to be
subjected to in the application as specified by the
manufacturer. The temperature stress test is not
conducted on a timer that is intended to be used
at a temperature below 50°C (120°F)
After the test, the sample is used for the N
remaining tests of this standard, after being
allowed to cool down to room temperature

16 ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS
Part 1 applies N
17 ENDURANCE -
Part 1 applies except as follows: -
17.1.3 Test sequence and conditions -
17.1.3.101 In-line cord, free-standing and independently -
mounted control shall be tested as follows
- For timers declared for resistive load, the N
number of cycles of contact operation for each
contact of the time switch shall be A = 5000
The number of cycles of actuation (M) for each N
manual action of the time switch shall be M =
500 (inducing 500 cycles of contact operation)
- For timers declared for resistive or inductive N
load the number of cycles of contact operation
for each contacts so rated shall be for a first
number of cycles A = 2500, to be test with a
substantially resistive load as specified in table
17.2.1, 17.2.2 or 17.2.3
A second number of cycles, A = 2500, shall be N
conducted at conditions specified in table
17.2.1, 17.2.2 or 17.2.3 for resistive or
inductive load
The number of cycle of actuation (M) for each N
manual action of these timers shall be M = 500
(inducing 500 cycles of contact operation,
tested under resistive load conditions)
- If timers requires an external or mechanical N
signal to move it from a rest position this shall
be simulated, if necessary in the manner
declared by the manufacturer
