ENGAGING LEADERS

COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Why is this a critical time
to strengthen collective
leadership across society?
Our collective journey in the 21st Century faces enormous challenges that are unprecedented in
their magnitude and complexity. So, the question we must consider is: What is still missing to
achieve a vision of a prosperous, thriving and healthy Western Australia for all?

About ELIAS WA
The Centre for Social Impact at
The University of Western Australia
(CSI UWA) in association with
the Presencing Institute (USA)
is hosting ELIAS WA – a tri-sector
collective leadership program
that brings together leaders
from government, civil society
and the corporate sector to shape
new futures.

We need to develop the ability to collectively address urgent

and complex issues. It’s critical that we develop these skills
between government, civil society and the corporate sector.
This program takes us through a co-design process around
complex issues. We learn through doing and prototyping the
change we wish to see.
We believe this program will play a critical role in Western
Australia’s ability to take a coordinated, collaborative and aligned
approach to the social, economic and environmental challenges
we are facing.
The foundation of the ELIAS WA program was designed by
Dr C. Otto Scharmer and Dr Peter Senge in collaboration with
their colleagues in Indonesia. It draws from their schools of
thinking: The Fifth Discipline by Dr Senge which, for almost
three decades, has been heralded as the leading strategy for
organisational development in the 21st century; and Theory U
by Dr Scharmer which introduced to Dr Senge’s work the critical
importance of awareness in building the leadership capacity to
address the challenges we are facing. This program has been run
in partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in
Indonesia and China. We now have the unique opportunity to work
with the Indonesian faculty to deliver the program here in WA.
