No sólo se estudia inglés por un interés personal, todas las razones ya enumeradas nos 5
llevan a pensar que el estudio de este idioma es una verdadera necesidad.
Por eso, la propuesta de estudio de esta asignatura tiene como clara intención, la
formación de comprensores competentes, capaces de desarrollar textos escritos cuyas
estructuras reflejen la sistematización de todos los contenidos lingüístico adquiridos.
La propuesta curricular se agrupa en dos ejes organizadores:
EJE 1: “El inglés como comunicación”: Involucra los saberes referidos al
aprendizaje de las estrategias comunicativas, que el alumno debe desarrollar
para comunicarse en este idioma.
EJE 2: “El inglés como medio de representar al mundo”: Incluye los conocimientos
referidos a los aspectos (fonológico, morfosintáctico, semántico, lexical), que
configuran el sistema de la lengua.
Entendemos que el dominio fonético requerido para comprender y expresarse
oralmente en lengua inglesa, excede las pretensiones de este curso. Para
lograrlo se requiere una práctica sostenida haciendo uso de material auditivo,
o mediante el contacto permanente con hablantes en esta lengua. Por ese
motivo las expectativas planteadas se refieren sólo a textos escritos, que es la
forma en que el mayor porcentaje de información le llega a usted, y en la que
se expresará más habitualmente, sobre todo si necesita hacerlo, en este idioma
usando Internet.
Nociones de Fonética
La fonética enseña la pronunciación y entonación correcta de las palabras y oraciones.
El conocimiento de esta rama de la lingüística es imprescindible para el dominio oral
del idioma inglés, debido a que la mayoría de las palabras no se pronuncian como se
escriben.
pág En el idioma inglés podemos diferenciar doce vocales en fonética que no siempre
6 concuerdan con las cinco vocales que se emplean en la escritura.
No todas las consonantes inglesas concuerdan tampoco con la pronunciación de las
de! idioma castellano.
Debemos notar la importancia que tiene el empleo correcto de estos sonidos, pues el
mal uso de los mismos, puede hacer variar el significado de las palabras.
Nota: es este módulo no nos ocuparemos de la transcripción de los símbolos fonéticos.
Sólo a modo de información diremos que son todos aquellos que encuentre encerrados
entre barras en cualquier texto de estudio de este idioma.
Acentuación
Si bien en inglés no existe el acento ortográfico, las palabras de dos o más sílabas,
siempre tienen una que se pronuncia con mayor fuerza y ésta es la que llevará una tilde
o acento (‘) que se colocará delante de la sílaba acentuada.
Sin embargo hay un número considerable de palabras de tres o más sílabas que suelen
llevar dos acentos, uno de los cuales se pronuncia con mayor fuerza: acento primario
(‘). La otra, de menor intensidad, lleva acento secundario (,).
Entonación
En términos generales distinguimos en inglés, dos clases de entonación que dan
cierta musicalidad al habla y que además revelan el estado de ánimo o intención del
hablante.
Luego de esta introducción lo invito a recorrer los contenidos y actividades de la
asignatura.

Para recordar: a cada pronombre personal le corresponde una forma conjugada del
verbo “to be” (ser o estar).
Repasemos juntos los pronombres y conjuguemos el verbo.
I am (yo soy o estoy).
You are (tú eres o estás).
He is (él es o está).
She is (ella es o está).
It is (eso-esa es o está).
We are (nosotros somos o estamos).
You are (ustedes son o están).
They are (ellos son o están).
Notamos que la segunda persona del singular y la segunda del plural (you) tienen la
misma forma. En inglés, no hacemos diferencia entre “tú”, usted” o “vos”. Siempre
usamos “you”, tanto para dirigirnos a un superior o a un amigo.
Ej.:

que corresponda (do-does), seguido del sujeto y luego el verbo en infinitivo.
