RISK ASSESSMENT

The only chemical used in this research is the mordant red iron (III) oxide.

According to Physical & Theoretical Chemistry Lab (2005), this substance is

synonymous to the black oxide of iron, English red, and ochre. It appears red to reddish-

brown powder, with a melting point of 1565 oC and specific gravity of 5.24. It is a stable

substance, although its dust may act as an irritant. It is non-hazardous for air, sea, and

road freight. For personal protection, it is advised to use safety goggles when using.
