His promise made of old His glory to display, The law that will go forth,
That he on Zion’s hill And people shall be heard With truth and wisdom fraught,
Truth’s standard would unfold! In distant lands to say: To govern all the earth.
Her light should there attract the gaze We’ll now go up and serve the Lord, Forever there his ways we’ll tread,
Of all the world in latter days. Obey his truth and learn his word. And save ourselves with all our dead.

2. The Lord is extending the Saints’ understanding, 3. We’ll call in our solemn assemblies in spirit, 4. How blessed the day when the lamb and the lion
Restoring their judges and all as at first. To spread forth the kingdom of heaven abroad, Shall lie down together without any ire,
The knowledge and power of God are expanding; That we through our faith may begin to inherit And Ephraim be crowned with his blessing in Zion,
The veil o’er the earth is beginning to burst. The visions and blessings and glories of God. As Jesus descends with his chariot of fire!

2. We’ll love one another and never dissemble, 3. In faith we’ll rely on the arm of Jehovah
But cease to do evil and ever be one. To guide thru these last days of trouble and gloom,
And when the ungodly are fearing and tremble, And after the scourges and harvest are over,
We’ll watch for the day when the Savior will come, We’ll rise with the just when the Savior doth come.
When all that was promised the Saints will be given, Then all that was promised the Saints will be given,
And none will molest them from morn until ev’n, And they will be crown’d with the angels of heav’n,
And earth will appear as the Garden of Eden, And earth will appear as the Garden of Eden,
And Jesus will say to all Israel, “Come home.” And Christ and his people will ever be one.

2. Humbly kneeling, sweet appealing— 3. Suddenly a light descended, 4. “Joseph, this is my Beloved;
’Twas the boy’s first uttered prayer— Brighter far than noon-day sun, Hear him!” Oh, how sweet the word!
When the pow‘rs of sin assailing And a shining glorious pillar Joseph’s humble prayer was answered,
Filled his soul with deep despair; O’er him fell, around him shone, And he listened to the Lord.
But undaunted, still he trusted While appeared two heav‘nly beings, Oh, what rapture filled his bosom,
In his Heav‘nly Father’s care, God the Father and the Son, For he saw the living God;
But undaunted, still he trusted While appeared two heav‘nly beings, Oh, what rapture filled his bosom,
In his Heav‘nly Father’s care. God the Father and the Son. For he saw the living God.

And threaten our peace to destroy, We’ll praise him by day and by night,
There is hope smiling brightly before us, Rejoice in his glorious gospel,
And we know that deliv‘rance is nigh. And bask in its life-giving light.
We doubt not the Lord nor his goodness. Thus on to eternal perfection
We’ve proved him in days that are past. The honest and faithful will go,
The wicked who fight against Zion While they who reject this glad message
Will surely be smitten at last. Shall never such happiness know.

2. Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard? 3. We’ll find the place which God for us prepared, 4. And should we die before our journey’s through,
’Tis not so; all is right. Far away in the West, Happy day! All is well!
Why should we think to earn a great reward Where none shall come to hurt or make afraid; We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
If we now shun the fight? There the Saints will be blessed. With the just we shall dwell!
Gird up your loins; fresh courage take. We’ll make the air with music ring, But if our lives are spared again
Our God will never us forsake; Shout praises to our God and King; To see the Saints their rest obtain,
And soon we’ll have this tale to tell— Above the rest these words we’ll tell— Oh, how we’ll make this chorus swell—
All is well! All is well! All is well! All is well! All is well! All is well!

When our Savior we shall see! We will dwell ’mid truth and light.
When in splendor he’ll descend, We will sing the songs of praise;
Then all wickedness will end. We will shout in joyous lays.
Oh, what songs we then will sing Earth shall then be cleansed from sin.
To our Savior, Lord, and King! Ev‘ry living thing therein
Oh, what love will then bear sway Shall in love and beauty dwell;
When our fears shall flee away! Then with joy each heart will swell.

No mortal care shall seize my breast. And bless his works and bless his word. To thy dear name through endless days,
Oh, may my heart in tune be found, Thy works of grace, how bright they shine! When in the realms of joy I see
Like David’s harp of solemn sound! How deep thy counsels, how divine! Thy face in full felicity!

2. In ev’ry condition—in sickness, in health, 3. Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, 4. When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
In poverty’s vale or abounding in wealth, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. The rivers of sorrow shall not thee o’erflow,
At home or abroad, on the land or the sea— I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
As thy days may demand, as thy days may demand, Upheld by my righteous, upheld by my righteous, And sanctify to thee, and sanctify to thee,
As thy days may demand, so thy succor shall be. Up held by my righteous , omnipotent hand. And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

5. When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, 6. E’en down to old age, all my people shall prove 7. The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply. My sov’reign, eternal, unchangeable love; I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design And then, when gray hair shall their temples adorn, That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
Thy dross to consume, thy dross to consume, Like lambs shall they still, like lambs shall they still, I’ll never, no never, I’ll never, no never,
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine. Like lambs shall they still in my bosom be borne. I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!

Nor can the mem’ry find O joy of all the meek, As thou our prize wilt be;

O Savior of mankind! How good to those who seek! And through eternity.

2. I believe in Christ; oh, blessed name! 3. I believe in Christ—my Lord, my God! 4. I believe in Christ; he stands supreme!
As Mary’s Son he came to reign My feet he plants on gospel sod. From him I’ll gain my fondest dream;
’Mid mortal men, his earthly kin, I’ll worship him with all my might; And while I strive through grief and pain,
To save them from the woes of sin. He is the source of truth and light. His voice is heard: “Ye shall obtain.”
I believe in Christ, who marked the path, I believe in Christ; he ransoms me. I believe in Christ; so come what may,
Who did gain all his Father hath, From Satan’s grasp he sets me free, With him I’ll stand in that great day
Who said to men: “Come, follow me, And I shall live with joy and love When on this earth he comes again
That ye, my friends, with God may be.” In his eternal courts above. To rule among the sons of men.

By man least understood, Descended from above The plan of holiness,
To have our sins remitted And gave himself a ransom That made salvation perfect
And take his flesh and blood, To win our souls with love— And veiled the Lord in flesh,
That we may ever witness With no apparent beauty, To walk upon his footstool
The suff’ring of thy Son, That man should him desire— And be like man, almost,
And always have his Spirit He was the promised Savior, In his exalted station,
To make our hearts as one. To purify with fire. And die, or all was lost.

Now his chariot is the cloud. Now their King he shall be known. But he now will bear no more.
Now his chariot is the cloud. Now their King he shall be known. But he now will bear no more.

To rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine, Such mercy, such love, and devotion can I forget?
That he should extend his great love unto such as I, No, no, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat,
Sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify. Until at the glorified throne I kneel at his feet.

2. For a wise and glorious purpose 3. I had learned to call thee Father, 4. When I leave this frail existence,
Thou hast placed me here on earth Thru thy Spirit from on high, When I lay this mortal by,
And withheld the recollection But, until the key of knowledge Father, Mother, may I meet you
Of my former friends and birth; Was restored, I knew not why. In your royal courts on high?
Yet ofttimes a secret something In the heav’ns are parents single? Then, at length, when I’ve completed
Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,” No, the thought makes reason stare! All you sent me forth to do,
And I felt that I had wandered Truth is reason; truth eternal With your mutual approbation
From a more exalted sphere. Tells me I’ve a mother there. Let me come and dwell with you.

And so my needs are great; Rich blessings are in store; His promises are sure;
Help me to understand his words If I but learn to do his will Celestial glory shall be mine
Before it grows too late. I’ll live with him once more. If I can but endure.
