Seven Things Students Want to Know…

1. Am I in the right room?

I will address this concern by having my name, grade, and subject(s)
highly visible on the door or wall. I will be sure to greet all students in the
hall and check to see that they are in the right place.

2. Where am I supposed to sit?

I will address this concern by having students enter and sit in an
assigned seat clearly marked with their name.

3. What are the rules in this classroom?

I will address this concern by posting the rules in large, highly visible font
on a wall in the classroom, and by giving a hard copy of the rules to each
student to take home and review with their parent(s) and/or guardian(s)
for them to sign and return.

4. What will I be doing this year?

I will address this concern by teaching, reviewing, and modeling all
procedures the students will be expected to follow throughout the school year.

5. How will I be graded?

I will address this concern in depth once the students are given their first
assignment. Ultimately, the students will earn their grades by
demonstrating their learned knowledge of the subject(s) being taught.

6. Who is the teacher as a person?

I will address this concern by engaging the students in a welcoming
activity in which I will learn about them and they will learn about me. I
will also dedicate a visual display showcasing what is most important to
me.

7. Will the teacher treat me as a human being?

I will address this concern by treating each student with respect, dignity,
and love. I will be on time, organized, and present.
