from Sohrab WH1 to South Azadegan North Cluster.
Sohrab Field is located at North of Azadegan Field, and 115 Km North West of
Ahwaz right along the international border with Iraq.
The design and considerations shall be based on the following site conditions:
Minimum temperature(absolute): +4 o C
Maximum ambient temperature: +55 o C
Maximum sun temper: +85 o C
Maximum wind velocity: 115 km/hr
Annual mean humidity: 60%
Maximum relative humidity: 90%
Specifications shall comply with the latest revision of relevant codes and standards
referred to in this document at the time of contract award.
The priority of references stated in these criteria is as follow:
Drawings
IPS Standards
International Codes and Standards
Class A;
Class B;
Class C;
Class D;
Class K.
The classification and rating should be found on the label affixed to the
extinguisher.
Minimal sizes of fire extinguishers for different level of hazard (Light, Ordinary and
Extra) shall be selected according to the requirements of IPS-G-SF-126 and NFPA
10.
The following types of portable fire extinguishers will be used where appropriate to
match the type of risk:
For areas where ordinary combustibles are present, such as wood, cloth,
paper, plastic and such, extinguishers shall be suitable for Class A fire.
Extinguishers can be dry chemicals;
For areas where flammable liquids and gases are present, extinguishers shall
be suitable for Class B fires. Extinguishers can be dry chemicals, carbon
dioxide or foam;
For areas where energized electrical equipment is present, extinguishers
shall be suitable for Class C fires. Extinguishers can be dry chemicals or
preferably carbon dioxide;
Class K Fire extinguishers should be installed in kitchen areas where cooking
oils and fats are used. ( Not applicable in this project )
4.1.1 When the levers are initially squeezed and functioned by activated expelling
agent, the content of extinguisher shall be capable to be discharged, and by
releasing the levers the content shall be conserved to prevent unnecessary
discharge.
4.1.2 The extinguishers shall be colored and epoxy coating with the contents clearly
identified.
4.1.3 The shell shall be fabricated of a material having rigidity, durability and resistance
to corrosion.
Pull out the safety pin and squeeze the levers to operate. Release the levers
to interrupt the discharge.
4.1.5 The material of the dome and bottom of extinguishers shall be of the same
material as the shell of extinguisher, shall have a thickness after forming equal to
or greater than the wall thickness of the cylinder.
4.1.6 Extinguishers shall have a carrying handle and a means for mounting on a wall
with the same material of cylinder.
4.1.7 The extinguishers shall be rechargeable type and shall be recharged after any
use or as indicated by an inspection or when performing maintenance.
4.2.1 The extinguishers shall be of material having rigidity, durability, and resistance to
corrosion and colored and epoxy coating with the contents clearly identified.
4.2.2 The trolley shall have solid rubber tires and rigid frame. All metal parts in contact
with the ground shall suitably protect to prevent the risk of sparks.
5.1.1 The portable type dry powder extinguishers shall be 12 kg nominal capacity,
suitable for class A, B & C fires.
5.1.2 The dry powder portable extinguishers shall be fitted with a safety pin and have a
cone synthetic hard rubber short flexible discharge hose, fitted with a corrosion-
resistant material nozzle to provide directional control of the discharge of
contents.
The dry powder portable extinguishers shall have a minimum discharge time of 15
Sec. with effective range of 7 meters
5.1.3 The portable type dry powder extinguishers shall have CO2 cartridge inside the
shell.
5.3.1 The portable type CO2 fire extinguishers shall be 5 kg nominal capacity suitable
for class B & C fires. It shall have a minimum discharge time of 8~30 sec.
5.3.2 CO2 fire extinguishers shall have a facility to control discharge of contents.
The extinguisher shall be equipped with squeeze grip handle for intermittent
discharge. CO2 fire extinguishers shall have method of operation of self-expelling.
5.3.3 Portable CO2 extinguishers shall be placed at locations wherever there is a risk of
electrical short circuit such as, MCC, switch gear rooms, etc
5.3.4 Portable CO2 extinguishers shall incorporate with safety devices to prevent
overpressure.
Pressure relief valve shall be of burst disk type.
5.3.2 Each extinguisher shall consist of a dry powder cylinder, complete with operating
valve and safety pin, a high pressure hose complete with suitable corrosion-
resistant nozzles and on/off control valve, all of which should be mounted on a
special wheeled trolley with wheels suitable for moving on gratings.
5.3.3 Dry powder wheeled type extinguishers shall have a discharge time of 30 to 60
sec.
5.3.4 The wheeled type extinguishers shall have a discharge hose, complete with a
trigger gun type nozzle, which shall include a facility for controlled interruptible
discharge of contents.
The nozzle shall incorporate with a quick opening shut off valve of chrome plated
brass.
5.3.5 The method of operation shall be by nitrogen cylinder and shall be integral to the
storage cylinder
5.3.6 The discharge hose shall be abrasion resistant, rot proof and impervious to oils
and solvents normally used in an extreme environmental conditions.
The discharge hose shall be non-kink, rubber type, suitable for working pressure.
The discharge hose shall be one inch internal diameter and 15 meters (50 feet)
long.
5.3.7 The extinguishers should be provided with a pressure gauge capable of indicating
cylinder pressure whether the valve is open or closed, and be compatible with the
extinguisher valve body material.
