Con este concepto quieren decir que aunque los títulos que
la cristología de la Iglesia fue atribuyendo a Jesús no fueron
utilizados por él, la investigación histórica permite descubrir
que tales títulos son como la explicitación coherente de la
“increíble pretensión de autoridad” de Jesús, de su conciencia
única de ser el mediador del plan salvífico de Dios en la historia
(Así formulará más adelante Pannenberg este mismo concepto:
“Jesús reclamó fácticamente para su propia persona una
autoridad inaudita... Al afirmar que en su actuación estaba ya
el futuro reino de Dios para salvación de quienes aceptaran su
mensaje, Jesús no sólo se sabía ya unido con Dios, sino incluso
mediador de la irrupción del reino de Dios y de su amor
perdonador”.[15] No son pocos hoy los que advierten que
atribuir a Jesús una “pretensión inaudita de autoridad” o una
“pretensión de poder pleno” (la expresión alemana
frecuentemente utilizada es “Vollmachtanspruch”) es poco
adecuado para expresar la actitud de Jesús, precisamente
caracterizada por su radical renuncia al poder. Tampoco quieren
vincular la Cristología implícita a la autoconciencia de Jesús ya
que, como advierten los exegetas, los Evangelios no están
interesados en mostrarnos la conciencia de Jesús. Por eso
prefieren hablar de “pretensión de misión”, vinculada a la
capital importancia del contenido de su anuncio. [16]
Por otra parte, ¡en qué medida hay que presuponer que
Jesús tuvo contacto con el judaísmo helenizado de Séforis,
cuyas excavaciones han dado tanto que hablar en la última
época! ¿Hay que imaginar a un Jesús imbuido de la cultura
griega del teatro de Séforis? ¿Habrá más bien que aceptar la
visión evangélica de un Jesús que evita las grandes ciudades
griegas?

Curiosamente ahora esta actitud de Kähler ha sido retomada por autores
como L.T. Johnson, que vuelven nuestra atención hacia lo que él llama “The
Real Jesus”, que no coincide con el Jesús histórico. El Jesús real es el que vive
hoy en la Iglesia. Johnson pone un ejemplo: La memoria de Jesús en la Iglesia
no es la de un antiguo amor que murió y cuya corta estancia con nosotros
atesoramos, sino la de un amor que sigue viviendo en una relación que
madura y crece constantemente. La memoria del pasado se ve continuamente
afectada por el cúmulo de experiencias que se han seguido después. Desde el
