SESSION GUIDE IN THE NTOT ON KINDERGARTEN

SESSION TITLE: Reporting and Documenting the Learner’s Progress: Using Informal Classroom Assessment Tools
and Kindergarten Progress Report
PARTICIPANTS’ PROFILE: All Regional and Division Supervisors/Coordinators in-charge of Kindergarten, Division CID Chiefs
and select Kindergarten Teachers
DURATION: 1.5 hours

I. OBJECTIVES:
This session will provide an overview of the Informal Classroom Assessment and its tools and the Progress Report as means for
documenting and reporting the learner’s progress or performance in Kindergarten.
At the end of the session, the participants should be able to:
A. enhance knowledge on informal classroom assessment
B. gain understanding on the types of Kindergarten classroom assessment and its tools
C. know the importance of the guidelines on developmentally appropriate assessment for children
D. enhance knowledge on the Kindergarten Progress Report

EXPECTED OUTPUT: enhanced knowledge and gained understanding on Informal Classroom Assessment and its tools and the
Progress Report as means for documenting and reporting the learner’s progress or performance in the Kindergarten as stated in
DepEd Order No. 47, s. 2016 “Omnibus Policy on Kindergarten Education”.

II. KEY UNDERSTANDING/CONTENT:


The informal classroom-based assessment is the most appropriate method in assessing young learners. Its tools are used to record
the learners’ performance in a more informal setting especially observed during the different blocks of time which are summarized or
consolidated in a form of clustered competencies/skills through a Kindergarten Progress Report as a reporting tool for parents.
