Read the passage below and answer the questions.

Eating the right kind of food and having enough sleep will not be enough to keep
the body healthy. We need to be surrounded by a clean environment and have
regular exercise.
A simple and cheap way to keep fit is walking. Walking as an exercise is different
from daily walking from place to place. Walking as an exercise has to quick.
When you walk fast, you exercise not only your legs but also your feet, hips, ribs,
shoulders, arms and abdomen. When you walk fast, you breathe harder and your
heart beats faster. As time goes by your heart is able to pump a greater amount of
blood to various parts of the body. Your lungs become stronger and are able to
take in more air. This type of exercise is good for people of all ages.

If you wish to take up walking as an exercise, here are some tips.


1. Wear shoes that are comfortable and suitable for walking. Do not wear
slippers or hard leather shoes.
2. Do some warm-up exercise first. Start by walking slowly and then increase
your speed as you go along.
3. Walk for short distances in the beginning. Then slowly increase the distance.
4. Remember to swing your arms while you walk.
5. Do not walk in areas where the traffic is heavy or where there are
factories. When you first start walking for exercise, your body may ache.
This will happen if you have not been exercising for long time, or you have
over-exercised on the first day.
