Ground The instrument reference ground (IRG) must be connected to one of the
Connections shield connections as shown in Figure 10 (T3-37 or T3-38). The chassis
safety ground (CHAS) must be attached to the chassis ground stud.
Fault Relay The fault relay contact is the fault indication for the Vantage. Both nor-
Connection mally-open and normally-closed contacts are available on the Vantage
field terminal T3 connector, see Figure 10.
The fault output is the Healthy relay contacts for the Vantage. The fault
relay is energized during normal controller system operation, and will de-
energize during any fault condition. Figure 9 shows the fault relay in the
de-energized position, which is the fault state.

Analog I/O Vantage analog inputs are always set to their default current settings, see
Jumper Settings Table 3. Vantage GP supports three analog inputs (A1-A3); Vantage GD
supports five analog inputs (A1-A5); and Vantage GDX supports eight
analog inputs (A1-A8).

For AI and AO jumper locations, refer to the section "Analog I/O Jump-
Note: ers," which is part of the “Performing the Installation” section in Chapter 4
of the Vantage Governor user manual.
I/O Circuits This section describes the I/O circuit types supported by both Vantage
Governors.

Frequency (Hz)
Magnetic All Vantage Governors can use an active or passive two-wire magnetic
Pickup pickup, see Table 6. The frequency inputs are of an optically-isolated,
Specifications current-limited bipolar design. Terminal (T3) supports the MPU inputs.
Installation All Vantage Governors can be mounted on a 19" rack, a panel, or a wall.
Access to the front of the Vantage Governor is required. Follow the
guidelines shown in Figure 19 (shows a GD Governor, but it’s the same
for all Vantage Governors) when installing the Governor into a rack or
wall mounting. For panel mounting collar cutout and installation, refer to
the special guidelines in publicationVantage Panel Mounting Kit data
sheet [DS8407].

Environmental The following environmental specifications apply to all the Vantage Gov-
Specifications ernors (GP, GD, and GDX). These specifications must be met to ensure
proper operation.
• Enclosure Specifications
• Temperature and Humidity Specifications
• Vibration and Shock Specifications
• Electromagnetic Compatibility Specifications
Enclosure The Vantage Governor case is a metal enclosure with a front access
Specifications door. The door is locked with slotted quarter-turn, oil-tight latches. The
Governor enclosure is IP 54 classified. Refer to the warning in the “Haz-
ardous Enclosure Specifications” section in Appendix F of the Vantage
user manual for a full description of this enclosure classification. Mount-
ing flanges are provided for the 19" rack mount, or they can be removed
for wall mounting. A panel collar is provided for panel mounting.
The Vantage must not be mounted in direct sunlight. Doing so can cause
Caution: internal temperatures to exceed their specified limits and may void your
warranty.
Vibration and Two categories pertain to the vibration and shock specifications.
