FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM

 1.Conventional aircraft
 2.Airbuss serious

1. Conventional aircraft :

control yoke ,cables and pullys are used – transferred the signal to hydraulic servo –moving the flight
controls

2. Airbuss serious :

 fly by wire system

 control yoke is replaced by side sticks
 Signals are transferred through the electrical wires – hydraulic servo – flight controls

Side stick

Signals – flight control computers – hydraulic servo – flight controls move

Auto pilot

Signals from the side stik or auto pilot is monitored by the flight control computers ( 7 flight control
computers and 2 SFCC) and allow the flight control movement to a safe movement

Advantages of fly by wire system

 Reduce the weight
 Easy to maintenance
 Allow the flight control limitations
 Pilot friendly cockpit
Primary flight control system

1 side stick (aileron elevator control stick)

2.rudder pedals

side stick :

 2 side stick in a A320 flights

 in left side and right side
 finger tip pressure is required to move the side stick
 both the side stick is move to a direction , the signals are monitored by the flight computers
and allow a safe range

Allowed range of travel

Elevator

 2 side stick is move in same direction : flight control computer allow a safe range
 2 side stick is move in opposite direction : no effect
 During auto pilot mode : side stick is in neutral postion
Red push button in side stick :

Functions :

Push the Red push button – deactivate the auto pilot mode .

Again push the red buttom – clear the all warning during shut off the AP mode

Side stick priority logic –

 Pushing and holding the push button : take control from the side stick
 Pushing and holding the side stick 40 s : deactivated the opposite side stick
 Release the push butoon 40s : automatically activate the other stick

2.Rudder pedals

 Both set of rudder pedals in a flight

 Move in manual
 Rudder trim : manual rudder trim is accomplished by rudder trim knob by hand
 Rudder trim is automaitic when AUTO PILOT mode

FLIGHT CONTROL COMPUTERS

7 flight control computers :

 2 ELAC
 3 SEC
 2 FAC
ELAC : elevator aileron computer

ELAC computers controlled the

 Elevator
 Aileron
 THS (trimabile horizontal stabilizer )

SEC ( spoiler elevator computers)

3 sec computers is there

It a computer monitor the

 Spoile control
 Backup ofElevator
 Backup of the THS

FAG ( flight augumentation computers)

It a computer monitored the

 Speed computation
 Weight computation

If SFCC 2 slat channel fail

Pitch Axis
 Elevator control pitch
 Side stick move forward – elevator move down - flight move down
 Side stick move backward - elevator move up – flight move up
 Flight control protection
 Pitch up 30 degree
 Pitch down 15 degree

THS (trimable horizontal stabilizer )

 Full potion of the elevator
 Help to trim the elevator control

Roll movement
 Roll movement is achieved by aileron and spoilers

Yaw control
 Yaw control is achieved by rudder
