LAB POLICIES

The use of computer labs is consistent with TMUC policies, objectives, community regulations
and technical college system. These need to be followed by all students and users.

 Use TMUC owned computers, programs and data at the individual’s authorized access level.
 Use computing and networking facilities and resources in a manner that is consistent with
the mission and educational purpose of TMUC.
 Don’t subvert, attempt to subvert, or assist others to subvert or breach the security of any
network or technology resource, or to facilitate unauthorized access.
 Make sure not to use of any technology resource to create, disseminate or execute self-
replicating or destructive programs (e.g., viruses, worms, Trojan horses).
 Do not view, copy, alter or destroy data, software, documentation, or data communications
belonging to or to another individual, without permission.
 Never allow another individual (authorized or not to use the technology resource) to use your
login account password.
 Refrain from using computing resources for personal or private financial gain without written
authorization.

 Computing labs will only be used for legitimate academic purposes. Food, drink and smoking
are not permitted.
 Users are encouraged to void excessive noise, keeping the level of conversational noise at a
minimum.
o Turn off or set cell phones to vibrate.
o Take cell phone conversations outside the lab.
o Use headphones any time music is played, either from the computer or from personally-
owned devices.
 No user should disconnect any technology resources from any computer or network
connection, nor move any tables upon which computing equipment rests without prior
approval.
 Users should never leave their workstation unattended without first saving any data upon
which they are working.
 Unauthorized access to accounts, files or data held on computing systems, or the use of
computing systems and networks to access any other system without authority is a violation
of these policies and potentially a criminal offense.
