1.16 Move all DOS calibration & configuration files

(eg.h418400.g01, c418400.j01), template files (eg.
69201823.a, 69201823.b), and download files
(692018.v23, 692021.v22) to
C:\Program Files\Avtron
Manufacturing\ADDAPT\DOSTemplate.

1.17 If you require software for the shovels in your area,

contact Milwaukee Engineering or Excavator Product
Support for shovel specific files.

NOTE
If the all the DOS files are not copied to the DOSTEMPLATE
directory, errors might occur when running the DOS
CONVERSION UTILITY below.

1.18 If available, copy the ADDAPT windows template files

(eg. 69201823.tem, 69202122.tem).
C:\Program Files\Avtron Manufacturing\ADDAPT\Template
(see Fig 12)

1.19 If available, copy ADDAPT Windows Cal/Config files (eg.

F419000.add, 69201915.add), to the Configuration
subdirectory:
C:\Program Files\Avtron
Manufacturing\ADDAPT\Configuration (see Fig 12)

NOTE
At the time of this writing and until further notice, files
sent to the field, will be both a DOS and a Windows format.
When installing new software on a computer, the technicians
will need to do the conversion themselves.

1.20 Remove the CD from the computer.

2. STARTING ADDAPT 2000

2.1 Launch ADDAPT 2000 by going to START/PROGRAMS/ADDAPT
2000. You
will need a product code from Avtron to enable the
ADDAPT program. Go to the SECURITY-> PRODUCT CODE menu.
Note the Key Code and call Avtron
as directed to obtain a product code.

This is done by calling the Avtron Field Service

Department at 216-642-1230, Ext. 1214, Monday through
Friday, 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. EST. See Fig 13

FIG 13

2.2 Once a good product code is entered, the Security drop

down menu will indicate that all functions are
“ Available” , see Fig 14. If Signal Analyzer is not
“ Available” , and the other two are, check to ensure
the software loaded was P&H P\N R51958D3. (D1 & D2 do
not have analyzer capability)

Fig 14

2.3 At the time of this writing and until further notice, the files sent to the field will be
in a DOS and a Windows format, both will be sent. This program installation will
not include such files, if the technician involved does not have the DOS files on
hand, contact P&H Engineering or Product Support to obtain them.

2.4 If the software is already converted to the Windows

format proceed to 2.13.

8
SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSTRUCTION
2.5 If the software is in a DOS format, then convert to the
Windows format using this program. Ensure the DOS files
are in the proper subdirectory as requested in 1.16
above.

2.6 Go to FILE->DOS CONVERSION UTILITY, see Fig 15.

Fig 15
2.7 The program will convert all cal/config and template
files for the part number (drive) selected at once even
though you select only one (any one) cal/config file in
that group. For instance, you can choose
“ C419000.g02” , which is for the Crowd, all associated
Crowd files will be converted. Repeat for Hoist, Swing,
Fields and RPC. If the template files for the Crowd are
converted instead of the cal/config when that file is
opened all you will have is the default values.

2.8 Highlight the cal/config file to be converted and press OPEN, see Fig16.

9
SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSTRUCTION

Fig 16

2.9 Accept the default subdirectory then select “SAVE”, as in Fig 17.

Fig 17

NOTE
If an error occurs similar to that in Fig 18, then the
template files are either not loaded, or the incorrect
template files are loaded into the
C:\Program Files\Avtron Manufacturing\ADDAPT\DOSTemplate
subdirectory.

10
SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSTRUCTION

Fig 18

2.10 One cal/config file must be converted for each drive, you do not have to convert
the template files (69202122.e) or the download files (692021.v22).
The file conversion will create a .add file in subdirectory
C:\Program Files\Avtron Manufacturing\ADDAPT\Configuration
and a .tem file in subdirectory
C:\Program Files\Avtron Manufacturing\ADDAPT\Template.

2.11 If you are going to operate On Line, proceed to step

2.14. If you must operate off line and cannot go on
line to perform the ADDAPT 2000 configuration, you will
need to manually configure your ADDAPT for the ADD-32
drives in your system.

2.12 Go to FILE->NEW-> to create a configuration file. Name

the file and use the Drive Personality window that pops
up to enter section name, software part number,
version, and address (Drive Com ID) for each drive. You
will also need the drive channel (usually Channel 1 for
serial link). This data must match the actual drive
configuration for your application. This is explained
in detail in the user manual which can be found in the
Avtron DOCS subdirectory.

2.13 Go to the TOOLS->OPTIONS menu. If using a serial link

to communicate to the
drives, then select the SERIAL SETTINGS tab. Enable the
appropriate COM channel based on the hardware
configuration of your computer (usually COM 1). Set the
baud rates to match the rates programmed into the
drives (USUALLY 9600). Refer to the ADDAPT manual for a
more detailed explanation of the SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS
settings. The DMA and IRQ channels selected MUST NOT BE
USED BY OTHER DEVICES IN THE COMPUTER. If communicating
to drives via Ethernet, select the ETHERNET SETTINGS
tab. You will be presented with eight channels, 201
through 208. To calculate the channel number required,
take the Drive Calibration Parameter at X102,
machine number, and add 200.

2.14 After setting the various communications options, exit and then restart the
ADDAPT program.

NOTE
If the all the windows .add files are not copied to the
CONFIGURATION directory or the .tem files not copied to the

11
SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSTRUCTION
TEMPLATE directory, errors might occur when trying to Auto-
configure.

2.15 Next, go to TOOLS->AUTO CONFIGURE. You can skip this if

you have
successfully performed a manual configuration. Enter a
name for the configuration file, ensure that the UPPER
ADDRESS LIMIT is set high enough to include all drives
in your system, and then press the SAVE button. ADDAPT
will poll for all drives in your system. This will take
up to several minutes to complete. It will take longer
if your upper address is set higher than necessary.

2.16 After the CONFIGURATION has been completed, use FILE-

>OPEN to open and
examine the configuration file created. Ensure all
drives are shown and that the part numbers and versions
of the drives are as expected.

2.17 To edit drive calibration and configuration data,

select TOOLS->ADDAPT
MAINTENANCE. A list of all drives will be presented.
Select the drive to edit; then select ON-LINE and
observe the drive calibration/configuration data to be
displayed.

2.18 To control the signal analyzer in a drive, select

TOOLS->SIGNAL ANALYZER
CONTROL. Select the drive you wish to control and then
observe the analyzer
control panel to be available.

2.19 To view the FAULT FIFO of a drive, select TOOLS->FAULT

FIFO. Select the
drive for which the FAULT FIFO is to be displayed. Then
observe the drive FAULT FIFO shown by ADDAPT 2000.
You have now performed several basic ADDAPT 2000 functions.
For a more detailed
description of the various functions of the ADDAPT 2000
program, please refer to the main body of the ADDAPT manual.
